My family had an incredible meal last evening at Noah’s Inn Fish & Chips! We recently moved to Mount Forest and wanted to try some of the local privately owned restaurants within a 30 minute drive of our new home. We saw the reviews of this place online and decided to try it out. We called ahead to see if we needed a reservation and we were able to be accommodated the same evening as there were only three adults. What a great place, we ordered my daughter’s favourite Calamari as an appetizer and it was one of the best we have ever had! The calamari was a generous serving shared by two of us, it was sweet delicate and melted in your mouth. The breading was delicious and light. We were very impressed as we have had Calamari in so many chain restaurants and paid significantly more and they couldn’t hold a candle to the one prepared at Noah’s Inn Fish & Chips. My daughter had the Cod and Chips as her entree and my husband and I shared the double serving of Halibut and 1 order of chips as I have a smaller appetite. It was the best Fish and Chips we have had in years! Light fluffy fish with a lemon wedge, delicious Chips, crispy on the outside and perfectly cooked. The entree also came with a small serving of Cole Slaw which was very good. We each had a beer with our meals, we tried the Bruce County Lager from Neustadt Springs Brewery Ltd. We gave it five stars! We were all to full to have dessert but we will try some the next time we go as we saw plates of the Coconut and Key Lime Pie and Carrot Cake being served to people around us and everyone was raving about them. The owner and her husband came to speak with us after we spoke to our waiter about how pleased we were with our meal. They took over this restaurant 18 months ago and the young man who was our waitre is actually the son of the previous owners. So wonderful to see hard working people making a success of a restaurant in a tiny hamlet in Neustadt, Ontario in the midst of a pandemic! As I said, the place was full and the food was excellent. It’s worth the easy country drive to Noah’s Inn Fish & Chips. We will be back and we will...
Read moreMy family and I tried to order fish and chips for Good Friday. I do not eat fish, so I ordered a poutine. We were doing takeout so I asked they put the gravy in a container on the side so my fries wouldn’t be soggy. The SECOND I requested this the interrupted me aggressively, and said they don’t do special requests especially on Good Friday. Putting gravy into a side container is hardly a special request. I then cancelled the entire order and they lost a sale of two fish and chips + a poutine. Not only this, our good friends once cancelled an order due to bad service. They requested butter on the side, to which the restaurant tried charging an insane amount and made it a big issue because it was a “special request”. I am a food influencer with over 50 thousand followers… and they lost not only a sale but a food vlog, because they didn’t want to put gravy into a side container. Kind of redic
edit I did ask for gravy and cheese in containers. Because I was getting takeout - they claimed they won’t do “special requests”…. Asking to have a sauce in a container so my food isn’t soggy ISNT changing anything other than them having good customer service and wanting to be sure their food is good for the customer. Also, they didn’t apologize repeatedly, they practically yelled at me that they dont do special requests. Judging by this response, and the response I received privately when contacting them I’d NEVER support this business. Never in my life have I seen a company respond this way. Take a look at all of my other reviews, they’re not only positive they’re fairly constructive. This isn’t in my nature to toss down negatively public reviews…. But clearly this one was...
Read moreMy family of three had lunch at Noah's. We all ordered the 3oz Halibut fish and chips. The fish was moist and perfectly cooked and the appropriate portion size for lunch. I believe they use an Asian style breading which includes cornstarch - so nice thin and crispy texture. The chips are rustic style (cut with the skin on) and also were perfectly cooked in a light oil that did not impart any additional taste. A small portion of coleslaw was included. It had the right texture and crunch with an appropriately creamy dressing. Along with the standard bottles of ketchup and vinegar - a squeeze bottle (stored in a refrigerator) of home-made tartar sauce was provided. Such a nice change from those tiresome little room temp stable, bland tasting peel-top deals you usually get!
We were seated on their outdoor deck. The restaurant is a field stone walled building with a historic interior.
The fish & chips experience was textbook! We just came from Tobermory and most favourite restaurant for well over 20 years now (The Fish & Chip Place) is sadly slipping in quality and absolutely over priced (even taking in account for the summer of 2022 inflation). They could learn something from Noah's.
Update - July 22 2023: on our 2nd visit, the food quality and the experience remains the same! We also had their Key Lime pie and apple caramel rum cake. Both...
