This place is a pretty big let-down. It definitely doesn't feel the same since the Acorn Restaurant was deprecated and changed to Denny's. Every time I pass by this place on my way to Woodstock, Edmundston, or Québec, I tend to sigh in sadness because one of my childhood restaurants is gone forever...
First of all, who even asked for this? Changing the Acorn to Denny's really added insult to injury because there was absolutely nothing wrong with the Acorn Restaurant, yet they changed it to something that doesn't necessarily support local as it turns out, Denny's does what Quiznos (Yes, Quiznos) does with their food supplies. They cannot use local ingredients and have to get their ingredients from the Denny's company, which is more expensive this way. It's no wonder why I see hardly any vehicles here than before, plus there's a lot more vehicles at an Irving Big Stop than there are here!
Just an FYI, I did give this place a chance, and the food was rather meh at best, but it's not enough to give me more than 1 star. The price for what you get is rather ridiculous! You are WAY better off going to an Irving Big Stop (e.g. Blue Canoe), Porter's Diner in Hanwell, or even a local restaurant that Fredericton has to offer, as these places use local ingredients, and you actually get way better food...
Read moreMy family called and asked if they could accommodate 20 people on Sat Aug 19 for 11 am. Two different family members talked with a manager throughout the week and we were told they do not take reservations but they would try to seat us all in the same area we were fine with that, we were told to call around 10 on the 19th to see if this was still possible we called no answer. Living close by we went down in person. When we checked in the person in charge told us they could not accommodate 20 ppl at one table, thanks captain obvious. The restaurant was not full by any means. We were told we would be put on the wait list 1hr 30 mins. Not a problem. We waited waited waited they kept seating people in the one area they could have seated us and kept saying we can't seat 20 ppl at one table. We are still waiting for the message that we can be seated. Needless to say we called another restaurant asked if they could accommodate 20 pple together in one area we were told they would. We drove the 20 min to a small diner called Ivey's where we were all seated in one area and had a great dinning experience. The staff were wonderful and the food is great. Needless to say none of the ppl in our group will go back to Denny's.Sadly that is 20 + local ppl you will never have...
Read moreThis was our first time ever to a Danny's. We had country fried chicken, bacon cheddar bites, double cheese burger and poutine. The restaurant Was so clean I would eat off the floors!! Pleasant atmosphere. Loved the music in the background. The food was fantastic, those that are cooking are mgicicians, we've never had a restaurant meal so fantastic! They could not have done better, right down to the chilled fork for my side of salad. Absolutely nothing could have been fresher or cooked better! The server miss Beth, deserves a raise, should be cloned and work in every restaurant available! She was Pleasant, friendly, detailed oriented, helpful and made you feel like you were doing her the favor by being there! And absolutely amazing! Over all enough cannot be said as words simply don't cover what an amazing experience we had, this was so good it classified as a near religious experience! All I can say is it was well worth the hour drive to get there. And to all other restaurants, you best pull up your socks! We will be back as often as possible! Thank you...
