Log Cabin — Restaurant in New Brunswick

After visiting Hopewell Rocks, we stopped to eat at The Log Cabin. We were not greeted by anyone and waited about 5 minutes. The two servers were very busy. One eventually came and told us to sit anywhere. We sat and waited another 5 minutes for menus. After selecting our items, we waited about 40-45 minutes for our food (maybe more I didn't check my watch, but we entered at 7:10 pm and left at 9 pm). We were a group of 7 (3 adults, 4 children and 1 toddler). The food was nothing special at all. I had a chicken Cesar salad which was romaine lettuce with croutons and a chicken strip cut up (my kids got the chicken strips so I could see it was the same). One of my sons ordered poutine and the cheese was shredded cheddar and mozzarella - not cheese curds. The food tasted fine but nothing outstanding. My husband ordered the fish and chips and it was good. Our server was very nice and did a great job and I am glad we went, the atmosphere was nice - the restaurant is a real log cabin and overlooks the water on one side. The scenery allowed us to kill time while waiting. I'm not sure if I would go again, but I would encourage people to go because: 1) it is a local place so we should support it; 2) the service is slow but very friendly; 3) the view is beautiful; 4) the food is fine and reasonably priced; 5) it's the closest place to Hopewell Rocks and if you're hungry, it's...

Please listen very carefully...this place is without a doubt in my opinion the most horrendouse excuse for a restaurant that i have ever encountered...what had been the most incredible trip to Cape Breton we stopped to rest after a 5 and half hour drive decided this would be a great chance to see the tides come in and spend the night in the hotel next door...after having to seat ourselves next to the kitchen we where disrepectfully ignored and waited an hour and a half for our menus drinks only after asking for menus and drinks that is...the wait staff just walked by us over and over again dealing with one table at a time while other patrons waited....didni mention that the place wasnt very busy less then half capacity.. then another hour for cold instant mash cold frozen vegetables and 2 dry cold slices of roast beef for $18.99 a plate the food was inedible and the staff couldnt have performed any worse although very apologetic the lack organization was apparent...seems the only reason this establishment is still open is the fact that there is no where else to eat for 18 miles at that time of day...this was without a doubt the worst dining experience I've ever experienced and I caution everyone to just keep driving ..there isn't a low enough score to give this place they obviously prey on weary hungry travelers...consider...

I'm honestly unsure of how to rate this. Service? 2 out of 5 Quality and speed of service after ordering? 3 or 5 out of 5 depending on the dish.

I think the problem is that it looks like a restaurant but doesn't at all function like a restaurant.

There is no indication that you should wait to be seated, or even anyone to receive you when you enter. You just have to sit down, hope for the best and maybe be proactive in getting the Waitresses attention

The waitress was nice and took our order and we received our food quickly. We were, however, two of six guests. We ordered the lobster rolls, which, I was shocked to find were the best we had on our trip. I also got a bacon cheeseburger which, was more like something you might expect to find cooked at home by someone who doesn't call themselves "grill master".

Ultimately, the lobster rolls won the day, as did the pleasant and friendly attitude of our server.

Don't come here expecting a restaurant experience. Don't expect that its proximity to Hopewell Rocks is going to make it a 5 star establishment.

It's located in a tiny community attached to a small motel and things just move a little slower there.
