Tiny portion size & hair in your food. Avoid this place for your stomach and you're wallet. Not only was there tiny and long black hairs on my napkins, but all in my food, and even the ketchup. All 3 of us have blonde and red hair. Paid $75, not including tip, for take-out. I have been all over the East Coast, southern United States, and multiple Caribbean Islands, having eaten all over; I have enjoyed my fair share of seafood. One of my favorite meals is fish and chips; however, I have never eaten a worse meal in my life. The fact that I paid almost $100 for a meal for 3 people and I am still very hungry is atrocious. I would have rated half a star or less if I could. **AVOID** This was 1900 hours on June 30, 2024. Email above if the owners would like to refund for the deep inconvenience this has caused.

My husband and I decided to take a break from cooking from our campsite and took a chance on this restaurant based on previous reviews. We received a warm welcome from Carol who also served our table. The dish my husband chose was a large bowl of mussels, seafood casserole with rice pilaf and a Greek salad. Very large pieces of scallops, shrimp and lobster. The portions were so large he couldn't eat it all. I chose the Poke bowl with chicken. It was very fresh and flavourful and there was none left ha ha. Carol's friendly personality had us laughing and enjoying our evening out. Highly recommend this restaurant, you will not be disappointed. Great value for great food. Disclaimer, the bowl of mussels full full to the top 😊

Be sure to make a reservation at peak times, like the weekend. You wouldn't want to miss out. The menu has a great variety of dishes, and some wonderful seafood selections. Save room for dessert, there's crème brulee! More room for seating and events than the previous location, but not as cozy. Revisited, 2018, seemed like a revised menu. We had fantastic meals at a very reasonable price. Vegetarian options. And yes, crème brulee 😍!

I've been staying at the Kouchibouguac National Park for over a week now. I've tried many of the local restaurants and I have to say, in terms of quality, Makeba is the best restaurant in this area.

At first I was hesitant. When I walked in, it is obvious that the restaurant is dated. To me, it looked like it used to be a popular place back in it's day. But now, it seems a shadow of it's former self. A local friend explained to me that the road that Makeba is on used to be the main road. But since the new highway was built, that all changed. I'm guessing that it affected many of the local businesses. I think the fact that Makeba is still open while other restaurants around here have closed, says a lot.

Anyways, the restaurant is dated, but don't let this fool you. I'm certain that professional chefs work there because there is much pride and talent that goes into their meals. Presentation is important and food quality is HIGH. Their garden salads alone are a work of art. I've always been surprised how many "good" restaurants cannot prepare a simple salad. Makeba presents the customer with a salad made with romaine lettuce (not iceberg). Nice green leafy lettuce (NOT yellow or white), red onions, diced yellow and red peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers and julienned carrots. Wow! As I said: QUALITY.

I've eaten the lasagna, the BBQ chicken pizza and the sirloin steak. Each meal was delicious!

And you won't find better, friendlier service either. The service staff at Makeba are terrific and FAST. I've been there three times and ALWAYS had excellent service. Twice with Tammy who is awesome!!

To summarize, food AND service is great. A bit expensive, but reasonably priced considering the quality. Restaurant and atmosphere, in general, is a little dated, but Makeba is the best restaurant in this area. No doubt about it. Highly...
