We visited Riverview Restaurant at the Nottawasaga Inn Resort for brunch. Unfortunately, nothing about the location reflected the name—there was no view of a river at all. When we booked by phone, we were sent a link to prepay in full. The brunch cost $45 per person, not including tax and an obligatory 18% tip that was automatically added and could not be removed.
Upon arrival, we were seated at a table hidden behind a large wall, offering no view whatsoever. We politely asked to change tables and were offered another spot, but this one overlooked a flat, paved cement roof—not nature or anything pleasant. When we gently requested a window table, the host informed us that these were only for groups of four or more. However, right in front of us, there were two gentlemen seated at a window table for four.
When we asked to speak to the manager, the host claimed she was the manager and firmly said, “These are your only options—take them or leave them. All window tables are reserved,” in a tone that felt more military than welcoming. This was disappointing, especially since we had driven over two hours to get there. With no other choice, we stayed.
The brunch itself included a choice of a main plate similar to what you’d find at any average breakfast spot. However, I must admit the single piece of dessert served was very good.
To make matters worse, during our entire meal, nearly half the window tables remained empty—contrary to what the manager had told us.
I sincerely hope the hospitality improves at this resort. Canada is full of beautiful destinations, but if hospitality is neglected, the experience suffers. A simple smile, some understanding, and a little effort to accommodate would have made all...
Read moreI haven't been in about 4 years and I can see not a single improvement on the menu and quality of service has been made.
I understand that eating out with dietary restrictions is hard. Something about a set menu i wish they would have just admitted they can't accommodate and we'd have happily accepted and went elsewhere.
Paid over 60$ for a couple over over cooked mushrooms on top of wilted lettuce. And a raw burger with a pound of goat cheese on it.
Could not add bacon to a cheese pizza because it wasn't on the menu but could add it to a burger????
But when ordered a menu item and just asked to remove two items from it they removed everything. Possibly time to write things down.
I still tipped but 15% not impressed with the suggested amount was 22% sorry not sorry. I tip well and am always happy to pay for substitution and modifications. I fully understand the work that goes into it. But they way the food tastes and the way the menu works it leads me to believe we are just getting reheated weekly leftovers. In fact that might have actually tasted better.
This is in no way the fine dining experience that...
Read moreVery disappointed in quality of food. Had lunch today with 20 people and the food was awful. Not one of the children would eat their pasta and meatballs. Something was definitely off with it. We told the waitress and she said it was because of a different supplier. Instead of not charging for the meal, they took $2 off for the price of the meatballs. The kids chicken finger meal which was $17 was 3 very scrawny fingers and 14 French fries. My meal was a club sandwich and fries. Sandwich was not great. Did not eat even half of it, french fries were barely cooked. We each had 1 drink and 1 glass of water and had a hard time getting a refill. It was not even that busy there. Would not recommend...
