An expensive art/gift shop that serves expensive small portion meals. It's out of place for the area and local viking theme and even the name of the restaurant. Nice to sit, great view if you get a window table - just don't expect much if you're hungry and don't mind spending a lot. I gave them credit for serving a chowder soup thickened with corn starch instead of a roux(wheat). However, it wasn't overly special at $12 for a small bowl. My better half had the pizza which was a single ultra-thin pita with a teaspoon of sauce, few pieces of cheese and a handful of salad on top - $16. If you're not in the area hiking and active all day, likely for you. Otherwise I'd suggest you wait to eat at the Lighthouse restaurant in Saint Anthony.

I booked a dinner here for my spouse’s 50th birthday celebration. We were staying at their cabin about 10 minutes away and we also wanted to meet the owners, Gina and Adrian. We were so impressed with the sumptuous food that were served. We started off with their fish soup as an appetizer. Then for the main, we had pan seared cod and lobster. We also had the local berry wine (bakeapple) and Ragna Rock Ale. We were so full, we passed up the dessert. Chef Adrian is superb! They have a mini-gallery and giftshop at the back of the restaurant. Gina is an artist and her works are also displayed there. We bought one of her books. This place is highly recommended! Do not hesitate. We would definitely go back again.

Wonderful experience, top notch food! Such an unassuming place, you wouldn't know from driving by it was one of Newfoundland's best restaurants. Service was friendly and efficient, without a hint of pretentiousness you'd often see in a top restaurant. Windows overlook the ocean, decor is eclectic with Newfoundland themed art on the walls some of which you can purchase. Not even a slight quibble about any of the dishes. We tried the kale Caesar with smoked Char, Moose dumplings, and Fish soup for appies, and for mains pan fried Cod, Halibut, and Crab legs. All were....perfect. Dessert was Figgy Duff, chocolate mousse, and Partridgeberry pie. Sunset over the water was a nice way to send us on our way.

This was the BEST meal of our 6 week trip to NL and this restaurant was a huge surprise 'find', we just happened on it as we were driving around! The woman who served us was so exceptionally knowledgeable about the menu and aware and sensitive to dietary restrictions. She was also very interesting to chat with, answering our questions about the area etc, which we appreciated. We had just arrived in the area after a long drive and were not dressed for 'white linen and cloth napkins' but they let us in and told us there is no dress code since so many of us are 'on the road' when we arrive. When she reviewed the menu and specials with us we were blown away...how could this 'remote' place have such a great menu to offer?! There is local artwork on the walls which we enjoyed looking at while waiting on dinner. We loved the special cocktails with iceberg ice and we both had appetizers. I had a really good seafood soup, which was a nice change as it was not made with cream or milk, so I could enjoy it. My husband RAVED about his kale caesar and could not believe he was eating kale which he claims to hate. We both really enjoyed the pan fried cod and finally learned what scrunchions are thanks to our server. Not healthy but super tasty and a great addition to the cod dish. We shared a figgy pudding and really enjoyed that as well. This was a real treat and its well worth visiting. We were there May 31st and walked right in for dinner, but I imagine it's very busy during the summer season. We are planning to return to NL someday, six weeks is not enough to see it all, and we will definitely return to...

During our visit to L'Anse aux Meadows, we made a reservation at The Norseman for lunch. Luck was on our side as we arrived on a beautiful day with few customers at opening. We had a delightful experience and highly recommend it to those looking for great views and delicious food. Our window seat provided a picturesque backdrop, enhancing the overall ambiance, and the attentive staff ensured our satisfaction throughout the meal.

Our meal included the soup of the day, a tasty sweet potato with a hint of ginger that gradually intensified, a crispy and flaky cod taco, and an delicious shrimp, brisket, and provolone cheese sandwich accompanied by a fresh greens and quinoa salad topped with berry vinaigrette. The drinks, including a cappuccino and a skillfully crafted Newfoundland martini, were wonderful complements to our meal. The partridgeberry pie paired perfectly with French vanilla ice cream for a delightful dessert. Notably, The Norseman's commitment to locally-sourced ingredients shone through, shown by their homemade rhubarb concentrate for the rhubarb fizz.

Note: A post-meal stroll to the Leif Erickson statue nearby added a charming touch to...

After reviewing the menu online we were excited to experience a nice meal in a beautiful location. Upon arrival, we were taken to a table that had great views of the waterfront and then the disappointment set in. After the server outlined the specials of the day, she provided us with a menu that did not resemble the one we had viewed on line. There were only about 5 entrees on the paper menu. After reading other reviews ,this situation was identified at the beginning of the season and should of been corrected. We ordered drinks a craft beer and a specialty martini. The martini was served in a chipped glass. We ordered our meal. The presentation was wonderful and the taste was great. The only complaint was the portion sizes were small for the price which we paid. If you have a healthy appetite this may not be the...
