Awful place. We had a very unpleasant experience. We come from the Basque Country all the way to Red Bay to see the museum and know more about our heritage and we end up paying 400 dolars on top of the room price and an unbelivable police record for child abuse. This is our story: we stayed one night at the whalers hotel, we accidently broke the tv, with a flying toothbrush and went to report it immidiatly to the hotel boss, she humiliate us telling us the bungalow was messy (it wasnt) and she made us pay a 400 dolars fee which was abusive, the tv new costs 200 dolars ( we checked it) we felt bad and didnt want to argue so we decided to just pay and leave the place really sad, one hour later the police stoped us to check on our kids, the owner called them to report us, when we were away, as the coward she is, the police understood this was a misunderstanding, gave us they contact details and was really nice to us. This was not a misunderstanding, i knew from the moment we entered that place the owner is a bad person and really greedy, hope karma will make...
Read moreWe stayed in The Loft for two nights and loved it! It is a big room with a wall of windows overlooking Saddle Island and a window at the end of the room overlooking Red Bay. Wonderful views! Small kitchen in one corner with a dining table and chairs, very comfortable king bed (and also a twin bed that we didn't use), two upholstered chairs for relaxing, and a good-sized bathroom. We only used the refrigerator but the kitchen appeared well-equipped for small meals. Plenty of quilts and towels. The heat worked fine and we had plenty of hot water. The WIFI worked fine for email, social media, and editing photos. Parking wasn't a problem. The Interpretation Centre for the whaling history of the area shares the same parking lot, and this is a great location for exploring towns north on day trips. Check-in is at the gift shop in the restaurant that also shares the parking lot. The ladies who work in the gift shop and restaurant are very friendly and cheerful. The restaurant had great breakfasts and dinners. We were very happy...
