Golden Lake Chinese Restaurant — Restaurant in North Algona Wilberforce

We had read the reviews and even ordered take out from here before. We ordered the dinner for two B, we did find it more expensive than most every Chinese food places for this common combo. Sweet and sour chicken balls, chicken fried rice and chicken chow mien. We did make a substitution for the chow main which ended up being 5.50 more but when we went to pick up an pay it was about 25% more than I expected. I went in as my wife picked up the food and the had changed the menu and increased the cost of everything by about 25%. We ordered from a menu that we had ordered from a month earlier and it had changed and nobody informed us of this. The quality of the food is nothing more than buffet mass produced food. The quantity is no where near what other restaurants offer and the sauces were very bland. General Tao chicken was horrible. If you have experience with decent Chinese food restaurants you will want to avoid this restaurant unless its a last resort. There are other food options in the area that make great food. We will not be going back to this restaurant and would not recommend...

I have tried many Canadian Chinese restaurants all across the country and have had my share of very good and very bad Chinese food (and everything in between), the Golden Lake Chinese Restaurant in Deacon Ontatio is deffinitely one of the better places I have eaten.

We ordered in and had the dinner for two (2 egg rolls, chicken fried rice, chicken chow mein, and S&S spareribs) and a side order of shrimp with snow peas and baby corn. The service was first rate and friendly, the food was served hot and fast and the prices were reasonable. The restaurant and washrooms were clean, and there was ample parking.

Overall, this was a very pleasant dining experience and I would highly recommend this restaurant. I am looking forward to trying it some Saturday for the All You Can Eat Buffet to see if my opinion changes, but I doubt...

Very disappointed given the good reviews ratio to the bad ones. Really wish to have taken the bad reviews to heart. Ordered take out so didn’t really checked at the restaurant, after a 20 mins drive to Round Lake...we soon discovered how true the bad reviews were. Sad to say it was the worst Chinese food we’ve ever tried except for their shrimp fried rice (thank goodness they didn’t mess that up!). Our biggest complaint was their Crispy Beef; just like 1 bad review stated (frozen burns and dried like from the last century) ours was far worst to the point it was not edible, even our dog chock on some piece.
