While this is a relative (to the rest of the island) 5, Dancing Goat is really good. I mean, my wife and I came twice over 2 days, so definitely have what we had. Breakfast Sandwich: The buns are a chewy buscuit (yum!), and there's a generous amount of egg, cheddar cheese and mayo on it. We got one with sausage (juicy, chopped right in the middle) and another with bacon (crispy). Simple yet well executed. Roast Beef Sandwich: Wowwwww this was good. The beef was tasty, the mayo-horseradish mix gave it a great kick, and the porridge bread (yes, definitely choose that over white or multigrain) was good enough to eat on its own. Blueberry Pancakes: This was the only disappointment for me. Not that it was bad, but would have liked more blueberries and fluffier pancakes. The side sausage was great though (tasty, not greasy, generous amount). Capuccino and Cafe Mocha: Where am I? Easily the best coffee we had in Cape Breton. Lemon Dream: The lemon taste was strong and tarty, the cream in the middle made it light and airy. Great name because that's exactly what it tasted like. Fudgy Macaron: Their desserts have names that really describe what it is. This was an overload of chocolate sandwiching a generous amount of coconuty macaron. Cookies: We got the ginger and peanut butter cookies to go. Both were still soft and chewy days after. A great snack on drives around the Cabot Trail.
Service was efficient and welcoming. Good space for a cafe. And the prices were ridiculously reasonable for the quality and amount of food. A definite spot to stop...
Read moreI am from out of town; this place makes me wish I lived within reasonable driving distance. I’d be a daily regular! Such a wonderful place!
Their breakfast sandwich is outstanding! I was able to have a bite or two (which were marvellous); before it was devoured by my partner. They loved it!! I’ll have to buy an extra one next time.
Their coffee is delicious and fresh! I love the self-serve creamer and sweetener station; a dash of cinnamon on my coffee…mind blowing.
I bought a bag of their chocolate chip cookies. Some of the very best, ever! Everyone truly enjoyed! Again, they were magically gone within minutes of opening the bag. I am looking forward to trying something else next time. I returned the next day; and I am thrilled that I did. Their Porridge Bread is life changing. I rarely eat bread; as I don’t like it. That was, until I got Porridge Bread. I am delighted with it. Please be sure to buy their bread and baked goods. They are worth the money.
The staff is also exceptionally good and remembered me from the previous visit. I appreciate this so much. Special note: Thanks to Grace for remembering that I am hard of hearing so she spoke up when taking my order. (Also, thanking you for cutting the bread on my behalf) The Dancing Goat is phenomenal and I encourage everyone to support them. I already miss their coffee, warmth and food. I’ll make a point of returning to Nova Scotia, just to order from here again.
Many thanks to the...
Read moreThe best place to stop for a coffee on the way to Inverness or around the trail.
This place was a bit too busy for my liking, but with lineups like this, people must really enjoy it!
It's so busy that you usually have to put your name down to reserve cinnamon buns since they are sold out.
I heard afterwards that people drive 2 hours just to go here.
The cinnamon buns were delicious, reminded me of Ben's Bakery cinnamon rolls from the Pier growing up.
The coffee is great - I stopped on the to Inverness and on the way back and had Americanos both times.
My sister had some vegan items that she found delicious, especially the soup and almond milk latte.
I had their chowder and quiche which I felt was just ok.
The cheese biscuit was delicious.
I feel like this place has 5 star bakery items, 4 star coffee and food items, and a 3 star wait.
They source all the ingredients locally which is also what makes this place extra special. I'd give it a...
