We decided last minute to go out for dinner. I called to see if there was any room on a Saturday night. My call went to voicemail so I left a message and honestly didn’t think I would get a return call. Within a few minutes, my phone rang! They were pretty booked but still made arrangements for the two of us. I hadn’t been there since the new owners took over and I was pretty excited because I had heard great things about the service and the food. They did not disappoint! The dining room has been updated and it feels very welcoming and clean. We shared a Caesar salad to start and it was very nice. Perfect amount of dressing for us and very crisp and fresh. The olive bread that was served was nice and warm and was perfect with the salad. My husband ordered the prime rib while I had the (highly recommended by a chef friend) braised lamb shank. The prime rib was cooked perfectly and so tender (I stole a bite!) my husband was very pleased. The lamb shank was everything I hoped! I went in with my knife and fork for the first bite and then put my knife aside as it was not needed! Every bite fell off of the bone! The mashed potatoes and carrots were the perfect match for the savoury meat! I ate every bite of mine but my husband could not finish the large prime so we brought that home. Then we were offered dessert. I chose the house made cherry cheesecake and my husband chose the strawberry cream pie. Both were generous portions and absolutely delicious! The cheesecake did not have a crust and I did not miss it. Perfect end to a perfect meal! I don’t know when I will be able to go back since I am a chef and don’t normally have the nights off that they are open but this will be where I go when the rare night...
Read moreI wish I could give Wolf & Spice 10 stars. WOW. The four of us decided to give this place a try because we used to come here when it was Uncle George’s. I am visiting family from Southern California and it was great to see this place open again.
We were not sure what to expect. Let me tell you how sensational our food was. I had the lamb shank and the Cesar salad and both were to die for. There was this particular spice in the lamb shank sauce that was unbelievable and indescribable. The Strawberry Cream pie was Decadent.
Keep in mind the food is made to order and it will take a little bit longer than most generic chain restaurants. It’s worth the wait. Trust me on this.
One bad review here mentioned “ some microwave”———-that is simply NOT TRUE at all——. I dined with two of the PICKIEST people when it comes to food and they ate their trout ( including the skin) which they normally do not do in other restaurants.
I have included photographs of the menu. Look it over. The prices are reasonable considering it’s pretty much five star quality type of food that I would never get anywhere else vs cost comparison.
This restaurant opened during the pandemic so try and give them support and a chance.
My only recommendation to this restaurant, is that hopefully they may consider in the future to serving wine. It would have been an extra bonus to enjoy a glass of wine with this five star cuisine.
However, It wasn’t a deal breaker for us that we didn’t have alcohol, it certainly didn’t detract my rating whatsoever when it came to giving them a stellar review ( because they deserve it ).
Awesome...
Read moreTruly a hidden gem. We came by thinking it was Uncle George’s restaurant and later found out that they changed to Wolf & Spice owned and operated by a lovely couple. We had good conversations with the owner and learned that they recently renovated and reopened the restaurant. Upstairs is a bakery, assuming they make their own bread and cheese cake - it was so yummy! Will definitely come back next time!
The meal was absolutely delicious - we ordered French Onion Soup, Prime Rib, Lamb Shank, Duck Confit and Shrimp Linguine.
French Onion Soup - A savoury vegetable broth with lots of onions and of course the cheese and croutons are the best part!
Prime Rib - cooked to perfection! The meat was tender and full of flavour. I personally regret not getting it as my main meal!
Lamb Shank - the sauce was lacking a bit of flavour and could do a little more salt. However, the lamb and mash is full of flavour which made up for it!
Duck Confit - the meat was a bit towards the dry side but full of flavour and paired well with mash and broccolini
Shrimp Linguine - served with lots of medium sized shrimp and good...
