Found this place accidentally while we were on our way to the Cabot Trail. I am so glad Herring Choker Deli’s and our path crossed each other! First of all, the staff is super friendly here; we had the pleasure of being served by Cheryl. Their sandwiches (including the locally made bread!), various coffees are delicious. The portions (they offer kid menus as well) are great, and I remember we couldn’t even eat everything on the spot. Next day we ate the leftover which was still very good – this tells you a lot that they use quality ingredients. Are they pricey? For sandwiches I don’t think so, and frankly, the place and atmosphere you are going to experience is totally worth a visit! I can only recommend Herring Deli Choker – go and check them out!

The quality of the sandwiches are great. The atmosphere is cozy. The staff are friendly and some are super cheery and friendly. The price jump from just a sandwich to soup and sandwich is a little high. Very high actually. It's a $6.50-$7.00 jump. Which is saying a small sized single portion soup is almost $7.00. Therefore, a sandwich and soup is about $17.00. That does NOT include drinks or dessert. Aside from the high pricing, it's an adorable set up with great water views of the Bras d'or. Again, the ingredients are very fresh, making the quality great. As you'll see in all my attached photos, the portions of the sandwich meats are fairly nice.

We split a lobster sandwich on the oatmeal bread. It was scrumptious even though the server suggested white bread to really taste the lobster. The oatmeal bread was super fresh and just slightly sweet which worked well with the lobster. Bean and spinach soup to round out my meal and my husband had a Caesar salad. Both were tasty. Waiting to enjoy our chocolate cheesecake later.

I walked in and thought wow this is a cute place. I walked up to the counter and the staff pretended I wasn’t there. Finally after a few minutes they had someone ask what I wanted. After I ordered I saw a different cashier talking friendly to the next few customers. They got there ordered before me. My only complaint is why? I’m definitely not going back. Food is really good! I won’t complain about that. Just wish the staff was nice to all people. I guess you can’t...
