I've been to bistro sacré once before and the service and food were amazing. The next time was the complete opposite. It was like night and day. We had made reservations for 730pm on a friday night. When we arrived there were maybe 12 or 13 tables with people and the rest were empty, so not too busy. We waited to be seated but had to wait because they had to clean and clear a table for us. So we sit at the table that was still wet and sticky from the spray that they used to clean but not dry the table. The bus boy came and brought us the menus but couldn't even bother to hand them to us straight, he put it on the table backwards and the wrong side. We then waited 15 minutes for the waitress to come and and take out order. I put a timer on my phone to see how long it would take because once it reached a certain time we would have gotten up and left. The waitress saw this and apparently didnt like it. The owner had replied to my wife's comment she left on the site she used to book the reservation, he stated in his reply as follows. "Thank you for sharing your feedback. We understand that you felt the service did not meet your expectations. However, we did notice that you began timing our waitress during the night. This created additional pressure, and we felt it important to highlight that she was doing her best in a full dining room. Walk-ins are always a challenge to manage, and while we aim to serve promptly, these situations can sometimes lead to longer wait times than usual". Well the dining room was not full and after ordering it took and additional 15 minutes for a beer and a simple cocktail. If they just expect you to wait because they only put 2 waitresses for that shift then I'm sorry but no, you need to hire an additional waitress if 2 can't manage a half full dining room. For the prices they charge the food and service need to be spot on, there's no room for excuses. After finally receiving our drinks I had to ask the server if its possible to get some plates, cutlery and a napkin... you would think that they would realize this without us having to ask. We then received our entrées (buratta and beet salad). They're were pretty good. Not too long after we received our mains, my wife ordered the ravioli but they put way to much goat cheese on top which overpowers the dish. I ordered the risotto, the rice was cooked perfectly but the sauce was still very liquidy and runny. I've had risotto at many other restaurants and as a professional cook made risotto hundreds of times. You need to make sure the rice still has a bit of bite to it and the sauce is thick and not wet. Its a shame all this happened because as I stated the first time I went there, everything was phenomenal. For a restaurant to be solid it needs to have consistency. Overall the service was extremely slow and lacking. The food was ok but nothing like the first time. For 2 people to get a drink, entrée and mains plus one dessert it took a total of 1 hour and 45 minutes. I hope that they use this feedback to better...
Read moreExcellent meal and service. We had to try twice as the spot was busy, but we were seated on the second try. The service was quick and friendly, all pretty efficient. We ordered:
Plateau d'Antipasto Burger de Boeuf de l'Abbaye Poutine de l'Abbaye au foie gras Tartare de salmon aux parfum d'aisie
The Plateau d'Antipasto was split amongst four, and nice overall. It includes Oka cheese, two types of cured meat, and some grilled veggies.
The poutine was most delicious, though it is a really large serving. Both of those who ordered it struggled to finish. I usually wouldn't suggest sharing a poutine- but this one you could truly share. Super rich sauce, it was pretty good.
My entree was the burger. It was good- a sweet yet tart sauce on it. My only suggestion would be to list the ingredients on the menu. The burger included bacon, which I would have asked to not have, had I known.
We had espresso and cafe au lait at the end- It came with a sweet little lemon biscotti. A nice touch.
Overall a good spot, nice atmosphere and...
Read moreHad reservations for lunch today. We opted to dine inside. There were several other tables as well of which we were the youngest diners. The servers were attentive and read cues well as to when we were ready to order and finished, needed water etc. The location is charming and nice. Tried the bistro burger and the lobster with scampi ravioli. The food was well prepared and tasty. Unfortunately the music created a very big disconnect with both the location and the clientele. It was heavy on the bass and more suited to a club than a relaxing or dare I say even romantic lunch. It created an unpleasant ambiance and forced us to cut our experience short as we had planned to enjoy some coffee and dessert or an appetizer but really only stayed for the mains...
