A&W Canada — Restaurant in Ontario

Ok. I'm a firm believer that you only do reviews when something is terrific, or it downright awful, and this hits the mark for awful. We pulled in off the 401 looking for a place to eat and stretch, and the first thing we saw was a well manicured lawn, strewn with garbage. I thought "gee, people sure are careless about littering here, and they don't seem to clean up", but then I pulled the garbage out of our minivan and looked for a garbage can... There were NONE. Not one. I had to walk to the far side of the gas pumps to find one and at 10am it was overflowing. Small wonder the place looked like someone emptied a dumpster in the parking lot, but no one was making an effort to clean it. Hey, A&W... All that trash blows out into the woods and fields around you. Do something about it, and spend a few bucks on a trash can! But then we went inside, first to use the washroom. You need to enter an enclosed room with huge sun-facing windows, interior temperature of +35 and humidity, smelling of mould, before you can get into the: Men's room. Pee ALL over the floor. You can't even approach the urinals without stepping in it, and it leaks from the urinals themselves. Perfect for my brand new shoes. One of the two sinks had a garbage bag over it, the second was so disgustingly filthy it resembles the toilet in the movie Trainspotting. The taps actually had mould on the handles. As my genitals were cleaner than any other surface, I left without touching anything. So. You think, after seeing all of that, that I spent money there ordering FOOD? Not a chance. Not a hope I would consider eating a carrot stick that came out of that unclean, unholy place, let alone a hamburger. Hire a cleaner, buy some garbage cans. Pick up the trash you're forcing on your neighbors when the wind blows! If I lived nearby this place I would be calling bylaw. Hire a plumber to fix the Men's room, and clean it! My Wife also reported that the Women's room was so filthy that she wanted to leave and find another place, but nature called. She had to "hover" and said that the bathroom stall walls were sticky to the touch. She used hand sanitizer, and made me stop again further into Kingston just so she could find a washroom where she could wash her hands. Disgusting! And as a side-note... The little cartoon A&W people pasted to the drive-thru window side of the building... You put those over a metal frame that was originally meant to hold an advertisement. Because of the placing, it looks like the people have been lynched and are hanging from nooses. Seriously, look at it yourself. Once you see it, you can't unsee it. But that's just an idiot contractor who put them there, and should not reflect on the overall view of the business. The unmitigated mess of the facility is the issue and someone needs to draw attention to it. Dear A&W Canada Customer Service,

I am writing to bring to your attention an issue I encountered while ordering from the 1636 Highway 15 A&W location in Kingston ontario via the Uber Eats app.

Specifically, I experienced difficulty when attempting to add individual items such as Apple Pies, Onion Rings, and or Fries to my cart. The app required me to purchase an additional item, such as a Hashbrown or a Breakfast Wrap, for example in order to add these individual items to my cart. This restriction made it impossible to purchase these items separately.

I kindly request that you look into this matter and consider making adjustments to allow customers to order individual items without being required to purchase additional items.

I am very disgusted in how I would be forced to pay for an additional item but I don't want it just to order a single item because of this I will no longer be ordering A&W on any delivery app or in person at the restaurant corporate greed at A&W has gone too far especially with how the economy is right now in Canada people are struggling to pay rent to get food or get the basic requirements they need I truly hope you find a way to fix this and find a way to apologize to your customers

WOW! Very disappointing! I’m an A & W fan from a way back. The visit to this location is enough to turn anyone away. Ordered 2 breakfast combos. We pulled away and parked to get organized and found the coffee wasn’t as we ordered. Went back to the drive through window only to argue with the employee about getting milk and cream that wasn’t in the coffee. After getting it into our coffees, they were cold and tasted burnt. We then poured it out and went to Tim Hortons that was very close by. Got the breakfast out and the buns were hard as a rock. Obviously left out overnight but they used them anyway. The hash browns looked like they were sitting for at least an hour. At this point, I am livid! Go back to A&W to get a refund. The employee didn’t know how to do a refund. Got no help from coworker either. I then asked him to call the manager. No one had a contact number for the manager! I eventually got my refund but only after much arguing. It was such a bad experience I couldn’t let it go. If I was a new customer to A&W, this visit would definitely be my last. I will never stop here again!! I can’t even...
