Prince Edward County has become somewhat of a hip and trendy place over the last 5 years. There is here, (as there is everywhere) a pattern for success, and more than a few establishments fall into the trap of just jumping on the bandwagon and following along.
It's safe. I get it. And more often than not it works. But as a local, it can get repetitive and finding something genuinely new can be a challenge.
When I saw development in the Old Mill I was thankful for anything. Consecon is the centre of the sleepy end of PEC, and new establishments are welcome.
WHAT A WHOLEHEARTEDLY WELCOME AND REFRESHING SURPRISE!
Adega is not stocked with local wines. Yes they have them but Thierry has not limited his (or your) pallet to just them. In fact, his global wines list compliments our local wines AND their in house and catered cuisine better than many places I have been in the world.
Let me be clear - if you want world class food pairings - go to Adega. They are crushing it.
The atmosphere is always friendly. LBTGQ friendly. Straight friendly. Wine friendly and just people friendly in general.
People go there to have fun while enjoying cool delicious food and fantastic wines.
It's that simple. And it sounds like a ton of other places.

Read moreWe had an incredible dinner here - a few small plates to share, with wine pairings for each item. Everything was absolutely delicious, and we loved the laid-back atmosphere. The food is simple, but creative, and clearly made with fresh and high quality ingredients. I really appreciated how they were willing to offer menu deviations to account for dietary restrictions, in a way that didn’t make me feel like I was missing out - even going so far as to provide one item in two half-portions so my husband could enjoy the item as offered while I could have a modified version. We both agreed we’d never had such soft, pillowy gnocchi before! And, of course, the wine selections were wonderful; we tried a mix of Spanish and French wines, and loved getting an introduction to each one from Thierry before tasting. This dinner was a highlight of our PEC weekend getaway. We definitely...
Read moreWow! What a fantastic experience. We had the pleasure of meeting Thierry and enjoying an evening with the place all to ourselves. We were welcomed as friends and treated so incredibly well. Thierry is an excellent steward of wines and wine culture. His knowledge is world class and he's clearly passionate about his craft. He was incredibly generous with his inventory and encouraged us to try everything before we committed. Not only that he was so open to sharing his resources and connections with fellow wine connoisseurs.
The photo is of a combo food board (charcuterie + spanish) and was so delicious. The choices are well curated and incredibly tasty.
After we finished Thierry invited us to check out the new space right beside the Grist Mill. This is going to be a landmark destination in the county. Mark my words.
Thierry, thank you for an amazing experience. We'll...
