Just want to start with this. The food is so good here. Which is why I drive over an hour round trip to get it.
And that I rarely review places. This just rubbed me the wrong way.
Walked into the empty restaurant holding my 9 week old hypoallergenic cockapoo, with my gf for a quick birthday lunch in the county - before reaching the counter or even being greeted I heard “you’re not allowed to have a dog in here” (which is fair, I understand) coming from the unpleasant looking cashier. So I took the dog to the car, no issues.
Ordered my food, not a ton of courtesy from the cashier but it is what it is.
Ate my food - again it’s so good, cannot recommend the food enough!
After eating I picked out 2 sweaters and a hat, went to the cashier, purchased and left.
Cashier said nothing as the merchandise was purchased, no “thank you” or “have a nice day”, nothing.
Also (the reason I’m writing the review), while purchasing I couldn’t help but notice someone eating chips and 7 layer dip in the kitchen area.. a little hypocritical if we’re taking food, health and safety standards so seriously that I can’t bring my small puppy in the corner while I eat, with no customers, in the middle of winter.
Again I understand the dog can’t be in their, but don’t pick and choose which rules you’re going to follow…. and definitely don’t be blunt or unwelcoming about it while you break the rules behind the counter.
All in all not the worst experience and it’s not that big of a deal - I will be back and I’m sure she was just having a bad day - but for spending over $210 on 2 burgers/fries/drink and merch, I could have gone without the hypocrisy and some pleasantries would...
Read moreI’m in Picton, Ontario for the first time and I’m in search of the best burger! Harry’s was a quick standout simply based on its curb appeal. It rings loudly of a classic greasy burger joint where you can satisfy your most carnal meat craving. The menu is full of decadent burger options and even has a meat-free impossible burger. I stayed far away from this as it could never fully quench my need for real beef. I chose the Classic Jane. Ironically, all Harry’s burgers are named after Jane. I’m sure there is a story here, but my belly was empty and I was moments away from devouring this iconic burger served with thick cut French fries and a fountain Coke that was perfectly refreshing and paired marvelously with the meal. The burger is served in a nostalgic foil wrapper and as I peeled back the hot paper that exposed the bun shimmering with a light coat of grease and I knew I was in for a treat. The mess of fresh ingredients was inviting and a few bites in I was in love. Harry’s secret sauce is a revelation on its own, but combined with finely chopped white onion, lettuce, tomato, and pickle there was nothing left for want.
The dining room is as nostalgic as the burgers. Open kitchen with all the smells and heat you would expect. Shakes and ice cream are there for anybody with a 10 pound gut and a sweet tooth. Outside patio is a great place to enjoy the beautiful weather this time of year and the kiddos can have some fun at the playground.
Thanks Harry’s. I...
Read moreThis was my first time at Harry’s. I was really excited about trying this place. I had a double Jane w/ fries and a $8.00 milkshake. I will be skipping the milkshake next time. It also felt like a replica of McDonald’s milkshake in taste. The burger was wonderful. The bun wasn’t a tad soggy and still kept it’s form. I liked the crispy bits on the outside of the burger but juicy on the inside. No sure if this was signature to this location but it was great. Felt like an old fashion burger and not a over commercialized one from any local chains you see today. Fries were okay.
The service was meh. No high chair. With that experience it seemed like that maybe was an after thought that hadn’t been executed with the opening or the “all gender” sign was just more important in the budget.
The people seemed nice and happy. Seemed like once the transaction was complete we were non existent to the staff. The meal was $50.00 later for 2 burgers and fries and one milkshake. Everything feels expensive that’s not really there fault.
Everything in the restaurant was clean and well thought out. I liked the old style chairs and the music being played! I really would like to see this Harry’s stick around. I will be going back because the burger was something to look forward to again. Thank-you to the hands...
