Great little convenience store and grill if you want to get a bite to eat before (or after) you hit up the Sandbanks. It's at 1368 County Rd 12, near the park.

It is a popular little place and has been around for years. It's beloved by the locals. Family owned. It used to be a gas station, but no longer.

You can bring your pooch - and eat in the outdoor area - lots of tables.

They have Kawartha ice cream and tons of yummy things on the menu. The burgers are delish - the poutine yummy. I like a crispy fry so (when I remember) I try to ask for the fries well done anywhere I go.

Portions are generous! We couldn't even eat all the poutine. The onion rings were so good too, omg, my fav.

Prices reasonable.

Staff are very friendly and kind.

It's open every day from 8-9pm but note that the kitchen is only open...

Not a fan of the store anymore. This used to be my go-to for camp supplies while I was in the area. Ownership changed a few years ago, and I personally (opinion) feel that the business has gone downhill since. I have trouble finding stuff in the store, a lot of camp essentials (or what I think would be essential) are not sold here, and the staff here aren't particularly the friendliest anymore. It's sad, because I used to really enjoy shopping here. Now if I shop here, I also need to go to other stores to get what I need. I am saddened to say that I simply cannot recommend this place anymore. The food service on the other side of the building is certainly still great, but as a store, it's not a "one stop" shop with friendly...

This place got recommended to us, which is a good thing. Otherwise we wouldn't even have noticed it - let alone thought to eat there. And it was so good, we found our way back there the very next day. The first day we split the hamburger and honestly it was so big, 1/2 was sufficient. The next day we got the chickpea curry, which had also been recommended to us. Who would have thought? Curry from this little place? Yup - it was excellent. And don't forget to order the lemonade. On a hot day, there's nothing like it. My bet is that everything is good here - and I'd like...

Friendly staff and awesome food! We were so happy to see this family-owned spot still open since our last visit in 2018 (when it was The Tambo Snack Bar), just under a new name. Discovered it’s been a part of the PEC community for a long time, which makes it even more special. Stopped here several times after beach days - loved the fries, cheeseburger, and especially the cheesesteak sandwich. The 1L lemonade was the perfect refresh after hours in the sun. Even grabbed one of their stickers because I love this place so much 😂🙌🏽. Can’t wait to visit again next time we’re in PEC!!

Kevin and his staff are wonderful people; honest, very kind and down to earth. My wife and I (she worked here many, many years ago!) both had the poutine - it was fantastic. Equal to if not better than anything you’d get in Montreal ! I noticed that all the grocery items are fresh too and very reasonably priced. So don’t drive past The Tambo next time. Stop in for your sundry grocery items and their delicious takeout food as well. You will not be disappointed.
