I would advise picking up a cake ordered from this business at least a day before you actually need to present it, just to make sure you are getting what you ordered, as my experience was extremely disappointing, to say the least.....My 50th birthday was on Feb 1/16 and on Jan 28, my daughter ordered a vanilla 1/4 slab with vienna filling over the phone and gave her cell phone number when asked. On Sat Jan 30, when my daughter arrived to pick up the cake, the bakery presented her with 2 small (5 inch round) mocha flavoured (which I can't stand) cakes that you could tell were just quickly slapped together. One cake said "Happy" and the second cake said "50th Mom". There was no apology or explanation given...just that they would only charge her $10.00. Because the celebrations were that day and my daughter didn't have time to get a cake from anywhere else, she paid the $10.00 (which I would never have done) and took the cakes. I was embarrassed and am still disgusted that a business would even charge for such a disaster. You would think that a bakery would make a 50th birthday cake more of a priority than that and at least call the customer and give them a "heads up" as to the disappointment they would be getting when they picked up their mistake. I would rather have had a store bought frozen McCain's cake as it would have tasted much fresher! There were 8 people to feed and there wasn't even enough for everyone. Needless to say, I will never forget my 50th birthday because of that and will NEVER order a cake from the Windmill again! I uploaded the pictures to Google Maps if anyone is interested in...
Read moreWhat a pleasant surprise! We were passing through on a Saturday morning and saw this bustling place in Mt. pleasant. There's a big green space out front with picnic tables and families, friends were all out there having lunch.
It stuck with us, so after our errand we doubled back to try it out and made it back within the time for their hot lunch between 11-2. It was tasty! They have a small set menu plus a couple of daily specials. (Note: their website is not up to date). We had BBQ chicken skewers served with rice, vegetables and a freshly baked bun. About $13/meal. The little market inside sold fresh everything - baked goods - deli - fruit - treats - and also featured a lot of imported and specialty foods. Be prepared to find something unusual or special. There's also a shop with crafted goods inside. We didn't go in but saw some on display in the entryway. Lots of interesting finds! All of the staff - every team member was friendly and kind.
Everything we brought home was delicious and did not last long!...
