Station of Egypt was a disappointing experience for us, despite our hopes of supporting a new local restaurant. We ordered delivery, and unfortunately, the order was messed up from the start. One of the sides we requested was fries, but we received rice instead. While that could have been forgiven, the rice itself was undercooked and unpleasantly hard. My kids refused to eat it and ended up having home-cooked white rice instead, which really put a damper on the meal.
As for the main dishes, the Mixed Kebab Plate was the highlight. The meats were well-seasoned and cooked nicely, with the kefta standing out as particularly flavorful but again the rice was a bug letdown and hence there was nothing to go with it. On the other hand, the Mixed Shawarma was disappointing, most pieces were fat rather than meaty, lacking the satisfying texture and flavor you expect from a good shawarma. The Hawawshi dish, however, was enjoyable and well-prepared.
Overall, while there were some redeeming dishes, the mishandled order and poorly prepared rice overshadowed the positives and left the meal feeling frustrating rather than enjoyable. At the end of the day, it was disappointing, as a lunch that should have been a treat turned into a letdown. If the kitchen can sort out consistency and proper cooking, this place has potential, but for now, it...
Read moreAs someone who enjoys international cuisine, I was really excited to try this new Egyptian restaurant in Oshawa. Unfortunately, the experience left me disappointed—especially for the price.
We ordered the chicken wrap, stuffed cabbage rolls, and a simple chicken-with-fries plate for my son. The wrap’s chicken was dry and barely had any sauce—just a smear and a couple of pickles, making it bland. The cabbage rolls were swimming in oily sauce that tasted like jarred pasta sauce, overpowering the dish. Worst of all, the chicken for my son had an odd, almost artificial taste. We eat global flavors often and never had this issue before—maybe it was the spices or the excessive tahini drowning it, but it was unpleasantly overpowering.
For a new restaurant, I expected careful attention to every dish, especially at these prices. Authenticity and balance matter, and right now, the flavors are off. I won’t be returning unless things improve, which is a shame—Oshawa could really use a great...

The food is absolutely phenomenal! I tried the koshari, mombar, and tarp. Each dish was packed with bold, traditional flavors that reminded me of a true home-cooked meal. The baladi bread was fresh and warm, perfect for scooping up every last bite.
What really sets Station of Egypt apart is the hospitality. The staff treated us like family. They were kind, attentive, and more than happy to explain the dishes and recommend favorites. You can tell they take great pride in sharing their culture through food.
