Chef Basel Cuisine — Restaurant in Otonabee–South Monaghan

Chef Basel is an amazing chef! He and his wife own/operate the restaurant. Menu meets all needs, D and I did a late breakfast, D had Mac 'n cheese, I did what I thought was a regular breakfast. The chef knows how to cook!! Exceptional poached eggs, truly perfect, the crispy potatoes actually melt in your mouth (is that possible?) 4 slices of ham and fresh fruit. Of course I did manage to eat the toast with the 3rd cup of coffee. Chef B we will be back! D loved her mac 'n cheese. Thanks so much you're amazing. (March 2022) In on the weekend, breakfast still great!! Had a board meeting at Greenwood United Church and popped in for an early supper ... D loved her pasta and I had Yorkshire Pudding with beef and veggies ... truly amazing Chef B! Great food and terrific service as well as reasonable prices!! Not having ever written a review I hesitate to share this but what I’ve experienced of the offerings at chef Basel I had to make sure everyone who can will notice and keep growing this incredible service-the steak with vegetables dinner would rival and defeat any and all it is BBQ grilled and the potatoes and fresh vegetables I have sincerely never had a finer meal and that was take out! Omg/another time I had the butter chicken and it was, again…the finest I have ever had the pleasure to eat, complete with true home/hand made naan !!! For a while the cheese and Mac. Dinner was complimentary and I can still taste it when I’m hungry haha. I hope this will suffice to say I have a desire to encourage everyone to try and support this talented chef and his beautifully humble setting so it may grow to the level to which chef Basel can deliver his masterpiece plates for a fifty table crowd in the manner he should be provided for the dedication he embodies! This place (which I used to adore) constantly tells me they are out of whatever I order. In calling; I expressed this and the lady told me I always change my order. She is right- I do modify my order. It was then expressed that because I ask for extra sauce this order could not be completed. I mention I am happy to pay for a second order of what (just to pay for extra sauce) I got. I thought that was fair- actually more than fair by twenty dollars. She went on to say I gave them a one star rating previously- which I did as I got a hair in my food- So apparently she could not even listen to my issue this time and they should not care, and hung up. What I got out of the conversation is I’m being judged or treated rudely for a mistake they made. She seemed prejudice and ignorant. I love the pasta from this place- truly I love this place. In terms of how people are treated- I’m disappointed. I can respect good food. I will not tolerate...
