2 stars because the food, as always, was excellent. I travelled to the valley for a track meet with child. I ordered and paid for my food from the courteous cashier and inquired about a PUBLIC bathroom, to which the staff member directed me. I tried the door, it was locked. I waited. 10 minutes, a crowd was gathered, so we knocked on the door. No answer. 5 more minutes, knocked again. No answer. There were murmurs about perhaps the door being locked from the inside where it had been 15 minutes and no one was answering. I snuck up to the window and tapped to make the staff aware of the incident, and the staff member (a young blond girl with glasses) told me it was occupied. I explained about us knocking and no one answering, and she yelled, ‘There is a sick staff member in there, and it’s occupied. We are stuck in here all day and we get to use the bathroom too! There’s nothing I can do about that!’ . At this point I put my hands up in the air in surrender mode, gathered my food, politely asked for extra ketchup , and walked to my car, embarrassed about being yelled at in front of my students, my child and a small crowd. I called the manager, or owner, later because I wanted her to be aware of the situation at her business. I explained that the food was excellent, that I didn’t feel comfortable writing a bad review, and I told her the events as above. I believe she was already told a version by her staff and was not listening to what I was explaining. She assumed I was complaining about the wait. I was not. I was simply informing her staff that the bathroom had been locked for about 15 minutes (longer the crowd had mentioned) and when knocked there was no answer. One can only assume that, due to these events, there may not be anyone in there. I felt the 15 minute wait time warranted me letting the staff know. The crowd agreed. The manager, or owner, continued to tell me that she was not told about her staff member being rude to me (my whole reason for calling), and that she did not have to provide a public bathroom if she didn’t want to. (?????). Puzzled, I said, ‘But, you have, and because of that these issues are going to come up, and could be handled better’. To which she hung up on me. It’s unfortunate when a manager, or owner, does not listen to the concerns of the public. But, I understand now why her staff member felt very comfortable being rude to me, in front of my students, with her as a leader. I spoke to my child, and my students, about the value of being a good citizen and public servant, and how it was not okay how I was spoken to. It is my hope that other patrons have a better experience, but we will not be back. Pearles, you did not represent your business or community in a very good way. You received a lot of business today because of your fine town hosting the Track and Field Regionals, and you’ve shown a very negative side , taking a little fun out of our great day in your community. Do better.

Response May 29 - As I have explained to you on the phone last evening, as well on this review, I have no problem waiting for a bathroom, and after her rudeness to me, and my embarrassment, found one elsewhere. My only problem was the response I was met with when I simply inquired about the ‘possibility’ that the door was locked after 15 minutes AND no one said anything when knocked (twice). It was a pretty valid issue - not a problem, just something brought to her attention’. If you reread what your staff member said to me, in front of my students, my child, and the crowd gathered waiting for the bathroom, you can see that she was, indeed, rude to me. That is crummy behaviour for a staff member. If you do not believe that that is unacceptable behaviour in speaking to a customer, then there’s no point in saying anything further, is there? Clearly it’s the leadership shown. Furthermore, you hanging up on me when I simply explained the above is incredibly rude! I reiterate my suggestion of doing better, but perhaps start from management down. Have a great season. ...

2025 update.. Not going back. More expensive than fall of 2024. Worse food. Smaller portions. For $56 taxes in before a tip, i got a large clams and chips and a 2 piece fish and chips, with the idea of dividing the fish and clams with the girlfriend.

When I asked about just getting clams i believe they said taking out the fries would only drop the price from 25 something to 23 something. Around 2.50. So you are paying 23+tax for a palm full of clams.

Her fish was ONE INCH THICK of soggy batter. Mine wasnt AS bad... but not 2024 quality ... the clams... 6 ounces is ALL YOU GET in a large they told us after first telling us 10... The clams were good but there were so few that i barely got a taste of them, having split them with my girlfriend. The fries... last year they were better crinkle cut bagged fries (before that with old owners, amazing hand cut fries).. NOW... straight and not as tasty, and not quite as many. All food establishments seem to do this... good for a while, then cut portions, raise prices, serve worse food. Next time we have agreed i will buy 32 ounces of local fresh clams for 30 bucks, and cut up our...

Very disappointed today!!! This has been a favorite of ours for about 5 years , loved the food, portions and prices . WAS worth the drive from Yarmouth. This season has been disappointing so far, we have driven here to find the portions are much smaller, price is ok if you are satisfied when you’ve finished your meal but my husband left hungry both times. Also the wait times are understandable and we are usually not in a hurry when we come here, so 40 minutes first time was ok, today I pre ordered and was told 30 minutes, we waited over an hour. We may try one more time in passing but will not make a special trip next time , if the results are the same that will be our last visit. I see a comment saying new owners, a little advice from someone in the food industry all my working days... don’t fix what isn’t broken, the volume of customers I’ve seen at this place in the last 5 years will pay in a very short time ,making these cuts this will cause you to loose your clientele . Hoping for a better...

Great food and ice cream. You can tell by the number of people that stop there. Had small fries and son had cheese burger and fries. Very good size portions. Price was reasonable. Was soo tasty. No inside dining. Lots of room to park and a good amount of picnic tables to eat at. I go at least once a season. 2025. Seem to be understaffed this year. Waited 10 mins for my order to be taken, and 1 was second in line. The young lady behind the counter looked disinterested. I felt sorry for her scooping ice cream, taking orders as well as bagging, and delivering orders to the pick-up window. Was only 7 mins for order ready, but other people waited a lot longer.

This simple clam burger with about 7 clams, a bit of mayo and lettuce on a little hamburger bun, set me back a whopping $17 after taxes. And not a fry was added to this?? There is no excuse for that! Not only would it be nothing for them to throw a little handful of fries under that burger, it would be the respectful thing to do. This is a special spot that has been frequented by the surrounding communities for decades, for the nostalgia, and of course for the food and ice cream. For your exorbitant prices, please give your patrons what they deserve - a measly amount of fries with each burger that won't set you back one bit!
