What a disappointing experience yesterday. Over priced and over rated. This group stole “The Jewel of Niagara” and turned it into “The Joke of Niagara” I guess our group was to feel special golfing behind the last group that was having their practice round for the Canada Golf women’s amateur. In blazing hot conditions, we teed off over 30 minutes late. Slowest pace ever. They were a twosome that became a single after the front. The were dropping balls and practicing chipping n putting, after completing the hole. We eventually got impatient and hollered to move along. The girls father/coach or whatever he was, starts yelling back and waving hand gestures towards us. Next hole, after waiting for for her to finish and get moving, a member of our group hit, while in swing, the two of them stop and stand off to right of the green, my buddy hits it right, yelling four to alert them. The ignorant father picks up the ball and throws it. My buddy then goes to apologize anyways, the girl says “you almost hit me” dad says “ you hit her in the face”. No tears. No marks on her. Still able to continue. So I called them liars. Father/coach comes walking towards me rifling off obscenities, when I turn to walk towards him he turtles and turns around. Big mouth coward. So the rat called to clubhouse. Here comes some young kid to inquire. What a joke. Tells us that the ladies are having a practice round and what the girl was doing must be something Golf Canada told them. Ok fine! Then shame on Pen Lakes I told him. Why did you have tee times for today! Why not give the girls the whole course. Ya know why! $$$$ GREED! We had to tee off on the fairway on some holes, no heads by PL prior to booking at all. Found out her last is Yan. Hope she loses and does terrible. I can’t text what I hope happens to her father/coach. But really reflects on PL, For the $ I expected to have a much better experience. But I guess catering to Golf Canada and rich country club members daughters is top priority. BTW! Whirlpool, Ushers Creek and Battlefield are better options n you can play all three for the same price as going to this rock hole. So support the Niagara Parks not these clowns that inherited...
Read moreBeautiful day for fall golf!! Fantastic shape. Greens were lightening fast. Very very impressed, tee blocks in fine condition, greens were quick and held, fairways were lush and cut. Sand was immaculate, played out of 3 green side bunkers and put the ball within 3/4 ft on each to the amazement of my foursome. Played out of a fairway bunker 135 yds out and put it on the fringe. Love playing out of nice sand! But kudos to maintenance staff for keeping leaves off course. No looking for or losing a ball in the fairway or rough because of leaves cheers. Views from road are so enticing and even better when you play the course. Good challenging course, play it once I'll guarantee you will want to play it again. Marshall's and pro shop staff very friendly. Halfway house has drinks and food, girl serving was happy we stopped in, she says she usually is out on course in beer cart. Thankyou good service. Hope the weather holds out , would like to do it again, except if the hurricane winds that suddenly appeared making those long par 5s, par 7s, not fair, hit 3 really solid wood shots and was still short, ended up 5, 6, 6, but looked like animal with wind on in 2. Now that's golf!!! Fantastic experience look forward to play here at least once a year for years past and hopefully years ahead! Thx for...
Read morePlayed in a tournament 6/20/25. All of the staff were awesome 10/10!!! The food experience was terrific. Great prime beef roast/salads/pasta. The low rating stems from the course itself. I recall driving from Toronto in the mid nineties to play this trek because it was beautiful, and reasonable on your wallet. The orchard was an actual orchard... The creek was so prestine that one could drink from it. The quarry presented more of a links style.
It was lush and fresh, and beautiful.
I've since learned that Penn Lakes charges $350 per 18!!!! This is thievery....and I'm being kind. Yesterday, nearly every hole was under construction or had freshly dropped brown sod around the tee boxes. There was heavy equipment operating throughout the course.
I suppose the end vision is what the ownership is evaluting when levying the outrageous price of $350. Currently, I wouldn't pay more that $120 to play this course as it is.
It is still beautiful but not sexy enough to empty my wallet to the tune of $350!!! It's time for ownership and the board to reevaluate their business model. I'll be returning to 'Look-Out' for my next walk around a beautiful park.
Again, staff were awesome, clubhouse was very well put together. Thank you for a nice day, and thank you for the price reduction for our...
