Mains were PERFECT but apps and dessert were disappointing. We had the lobster roll and scallops and they were perfection. The roll had huge chunks of meaty and fresh lobster. It came with crispy, thin fries that were good too. The scallops in my main were so perfectly cooked. Crispy and browned on top and tender on the inside with a really good perfectly seasoned honey sauce. The buttery sweet potato mash that came with it was heavenly. Now the mussels, my opinion, lacked richness, it was just salt, wine and garlic. I may be biased but butter would have been nice. Some of the mussels were not fresh. The mussels arrived lukewarm which contrasted against the perfectly cooked mains. I feel like the waitress forgot to bring this out since it arrived after my mains. Not sure what I was supposed to do with the bread as my mussel sauce tasted like fishy salt water. I chose the crumble for dessert and it … was not good at all. Cheap vanilla ice cream on top with what tasted like stale breakfast oatmeal (the crumble needs butter!!!) and unseasoned fruit (apple and canned peaches). DEFINITELY skip this. I saw someone else order a lemon meringue and it looked legit, so maybe try that. Our waitress was not the most attentive but they might have been understaffed. The live entertainment was great! Unfortunately she only takes cash tips.

A new place on the South Shore who started months before Covid hit and managed to survive! As we camp multiple times per year at Risers Beach we had to try them. We had mussels and Calamari for starters and Salmon and Haddock for main course. The starters were good although it was a bit weird to see baby squids in the bowl. The main course were good but were a bit small for portion, the fish was okay but the rice and veggies were a) not much and b) still a bit hard. While the desert menu listed 7 or 8 items only 2 were available which was a bit disappointing. Overall a good addition to the area where restaurants are scarce but not special enough to gush over.

We stopped here for supper before an activity nearby, arriving 1.5 hours early (with only a 5-minute drive to our event), thinking we had plenty of time. Unfortunately, the service and kitchen were very slow—we barely made it on time, and even asked to cancel our order at one point because of the wait. That said, the food itself was lovely, and there was an acoustic singer performing that night who was really good—we enjoyed listening while we ate. Overall, I would have rated this place higher, but after hearing from locals that slow service is a common issue here, I feel a 3 is fair.

We had several friends visiting from out of town and decided to give this place a try. We had our dog with us and planned to eat outside at their dog friendly patio.

Unfortunately that night that we showed up, they were slammed and had two staff members out sick. As a result they were unable to serve us on the patio. The staff were super nice and apologetic about this. One of the owners even came out to talk to us and apologized (unnecessarily). They even, unasked, brought our dog a dish of water.

We end up ordering take out from them and it was excellent. I had the fish and chips and the batter was wonderfully light and thin. The fish was cooked perfectly. I was surprised by the serving of French fries, it was smaller then I expected but I did not mind it as most pubs seem to be in a competition to see who can cram the most French fries on a plate. Our friends ordered the rather untraditional donairs and were very impressed.

We enjoyed our meal so much that the next day we came back and were able to sit on the lower patio and order deserts with drinks. Two great evenings due in no small part to the great staff. Highly...

This little pub and eatery is a gem along the beautiful shore drive of the LaHave River to Petite Riviere. It has become a destiny for day trips from Halifax. Although the view from Osprey’s Nest is nothing special it is at a point just off the road where one can stop and rest, and have a great meal. The fare is not extensive but they have chosen to concentrate on making good food instead of offering lots of mediocre choices. It is licensed, clean bathrooms, and a warm ambiance. Seafood is well ingrained in what they offer, but the usual pub fare such as chicken wings, fried pepperoni, and potato skins are done well too. The only downside is that reservations are not taken, which is understandable since no shows would mean holding a table for others who are waiting. And it is popular! So make it a place to...
