I came here once several months ago and I really quite liked it. However, today's visit was quite disappointing. I had a reservation for 6:00 for 4 people - myself, my parents, and my young daughter. We arrived about 5 minutes early and were sat right away. However, no one came to our table for about 20 minutes, the waters we requested for our outdoor table in the heat were forgotten completely until we asked again (about 40 minutes in), and it was about an hour and 15 minutes after we sat down before we got our food. My dad's appetizer was served at the same time as his dinner, so his pasta was cold by the time he got to it. We got no warning about my daughter's super hot plate, which gave her quite a surprise when she touched it. My food was delicious at first - I ordered the pork chop, which was very tender and tasted great, but was too big to eat in one sitting. I took it to go and just decided to have a few more bites a little while ago, but after cutting into it I see that much of what I didn't eat at the restaurant is uncooked. I'm ok with a bit of pink in my pork, but not raw. The service tonight was sorely lacking. Our server was very friendly when she did come around (very little), which is why I'm giving 2 stars instead of 1. I can appreciate that it was busy, but there was zero communication about why everything was so backed up. I imagine this place is often quite busy? The bill was $132, but would have been higher if the service was better. We'd have ordered more drinks and maybe dessert. But now we likely won't return.

We stayed at the Old Courthouse Inn for an evening and wanted to have dinner at a local pub. My wife found the Shingle Mill Pub online so we decided to give it a try. We definitely weren't disappointed. We shared a Margarita pizza, then my wife had the beet salad and I had the prime rib. Portion sizes were generous and the food was terrific. Our server was fantastic (Leanne) and we had a wonderful chat with her after our meal (we apologize for keeping you from your closing duties!) ... We had an incredible time at the Shingle Mill and will definitely return the next time we're in Powell River. Thanks!

Beautiful view of Powell Lake with a great patio. The Pacific Seafood Linguini (top) was well enjoyed by my husband. I had the Blackened Cajun Linguini (bottom) and it was delicious, very saucy and very creamy. The portions were big too! Service was very slow to get started at the onset. We were sat without menus and then it took at least 15 minutes before they were brought and a drink order was taken. However, was overall friendly once things got going, and the food came within a normal timeframe after ordering.

2024: I called in tonight to order takeout from you, and I was told you don’t do takeout service during your dinner service. I don’t see the logic behind turning away business if all you’re doing differently is putting it in a takeout container instead of on a plate. Your service is probably the worst I’ve ever experienced, and you rarely apologize in person for mistakes made. I will not be recommending your restaurant.

2023:We came in tonight around 6:30 with reservations. Overall the food was decent, but the customer service was some of the WORST I’ve ever had. I’ve come here over the years starting back in 2009 and I don’t know if I’ll ever come back. Our server must’ve been inexperienced because she seemed rushed and didn’t seem to care that we were not having a good experience. I did not get her name unfortunately.

Our food took OVER AN HOUR to arrive and all we ordered was chicken wings, pasta and a potato skillet. Our server often had excuses for why the service wasn’t up to par and snarky comments to suggest we were told it was a busy night, which we were not told when we walked in. Rarely ever quality checked our table, maybe came to the table twice over that hour period to check to see how we were doing. Didn’t offer drink refills, the list goes on really…

Had we known their would be over an hour wait for food I’m sure we would’ve gone elsewhere. If your excuse is that your short staffed, I would suggest limiting your capacity further on busy nights to accommodate your staffs needs to perform their duties to the best of their abilities. The staff didn’t even try to make amends for the bad service at the end of the meal. Getting the check also took a long time and all we wanted to do was leave. It’s fair to say I won’t be coming back and won’t be recommending your...

Beautiful location only minutes from town. We had the Smokey Brisket Sandwich, house roasted beef brisket, coleslaw, onion ring, Carolina mustard, JD BBQ sauce on a pretzel bun. Apple & Brie sandwich, grilled rosemary roaster chicken, gala apple, Brie, sunflower sprouts, caramelized onions, butter lettuce, fig mayo served on a brioche bread (thick slices). Chicken BLT, toasted multigrain bread, seasoned grilled chicken, bacon, lettuce, tomato and mayo. We did fries and one had house salad with a very light champagne vinaigrette. The portion sizes very extremely generous. Could have shared the BLT or the Apple and Brie. Unfortunately the fries were over done. And we were going to ask for new ones but no one came back. We did have to go up to the bar to get our bills as well. The server did not come back to see if the food was good. If you are ok with slow service and potentially having to go ask for stuff then it a good place. Will we go back? Maybe but when there are other options in town.... Oh and we asked for an order of onion rings and were told they don't have them? Interesting cause the came on the...
