This place has completely PLUMMETED over the past couple of years. Once upon a time, Deez was a friendly and welcoming establishment, with delicious, homemade food. The atmosphere was uplifting and accepting. Deez used to be a restaurant that radiated prosperity, success, acceptance, and comfort.
Being a regular for many years, I gave it a few too many chances after the food quality collapsed.
First, the food literally tastes like it comes from a bag: at best, it's good enough to eat. At worst, it's beyond inedible.
With the frequent occurrence of unpalatable dishes, there are several different descriptions of why the food is inedible. These situations depend on what you order: The burgers often come so charred that they taste like the inside of a blackened barbeque that rotted throughout the winter without having been cleaned since the prior summer. The fish is almost always undercooked. You can taste that it was shipped in frozen, remained frozen until it was dipped in batter, and then plunged with sadness into the unmaintained oil of the deep-fryer. No more freshly prepared Greek salad/platter, nachos, dino bones, or Wednesday wings. Even their famous wings are now hit-or-miss.
Do not even attempt to go for breakfast: Over easy eggs are LITERALLY crispy - without fail. If you say something and send them back, the waitresses are beyond understanding. They're always concerned to the correct degree, empathetic, I would say. I think is the reason that I gave Deez so many chances to succeed with their delivery of their promised values.
I have come to the conclusion that the head chef is incompetent. It is apparent that gently cooking over-easy eggs is not within the chef's capabilities. With crispy over-easy eggs, burnt burgers, and raw fish and chips, my time here has come to an end. Ignore their Facebook marketing posts with photos of their perfect food. All it is is simple marketing and probably a good photographer.
As a retired local of the community, I hear the word around town. When asked, old regulars no longer spend their money here. They haven't been to Deez in a long time.
Finally, I must acknowledge the outstanding, above-and-beyond service and accommodation of the two lovely waitresses at Deez! Their names are Rae and Micha. They're essentially the only reason I kept returning despite the poor food quality, and even after many staff members left. Even the tall man behind the bar disappeared. While I don't directly know why this happened, it all radiated from the top-down. It must certainly come from upper management. I'm not if the owner cares or not, but the food is your problem. Having to post promotions for Deez in the newspaper is sad. Your head chef cannot be bothered with output, nor feedback. This has been made apparent.
What used to be a booming establishment, is now a shell of what it once was just a couple of years ago. It's entirely due to the food. You are guaranteed to not receive the promised value of what...
Read moreWe are new to the Island and are still in an exploring mode...We visited Deez Bar and Grill about two months ago for the first time and we were pleasantly surprised with an excellent service despite the "heavy traffic". My husband had his birthday yesterday and instead of looking for a new place to go to for a dinner, I reserved the table right at Deez. A fantastic server (Cassandra) with a very approachable, friendly yet, professional attitude was our host for the night. Peter Macleod behind the bar, who I met briefly before while booking the table, remembered my name, visited us for a brief chat. Because it was Thursday, we were lucky to enjoy the live music played by local legend Mike Jarvis and his band members. The music was wonderful. Good selection, no too loud and the performers were fabulously strong on their harmonies. We are musicians / performers as well, so we observe these details. They even called my hubby who pays tribute to Frank Sinatra, to joined them for a song. This was a one-of-a-kind night. We will be returning, especially when this band is in. We were treated by the Deez' staff as family members and that is so hard to see... And before I forget to add this details; a beautifully presented, tasty cake and coffee for my celebrated husband was gratis. Thank you for such a classy...
Read moreFood was pretty good. Burger was good. Fries were also good. Service was unfortunately a little offputting to begin with being told abruptly at the door that only the late night menu was available after 7pm...ok. But, being handed a menu and having the server point to various things that were and werent available, then told that basically only deep fried items were available, and then having that menu hastily pulled away from us and given the "late night" menu was again just offputting. When the burger came out with without the addons we ordered, we told the server and said it was fine but just remember not to put them on the bill. Bill comes out unchanged. I go in to settle up and have the items removed and also notice that I was overcharged for an appetizer based on the menu price I was given with the final menu they left us. They explained it was an old menu...something not printed...cant change the bill because it needs manager approval... Please charge your customers WHAT THE MENU SAYS. Your excuse as to why the menu isnt right is NOT the customers problem. Server - check your customers order coming out to the table to ensure the cook has done their job. The error was both theirs and yours. Mushrooms and cheese were ordered. Only onions came as onions...
