Highly impressed with the service, quality of food, environment and non-traditional, albeit entertaining location.

Service was stellar. As someone who has food allergies and restrictions, I was very impressed with the wait staff and their concern and ability to check in with the kitchen regarding having food which is "safe"

They let me know that the chefs are the owners and so they are very concerned about being sure that their clientele are safe and pleased with dinner service.

Considering I am GF / DF / plus 2 specific food allergies, it's a tall ask. Yet I was very happy to discover that there were at least two options for dinner. As I have been unable to eat out since January of 2020, I can't tell you how exciting that was!

Our on the ball waitress not only assured me that they have a separate area for preparing food for those of us with concerns, but that my meal would be done separately from the others. She was also open to discussing white might be possible cross-contamination like the deep fryer plus other concerns. Part of why I haven't had anything out to eat since January of 2020, it is a lot of work and frustration for both parties.

Yet she made it easier and made me feel relievedI could possibly eat something, share a meal with my family, and yet not have adverse effects from it.

All of that said, two of our four (including myself) ordered the lamb shanks and they were excellent!

Another had the side salad (which is bigger rethought to be a regular sized portion) of the beet goat cheese salad and they were quite happy with it.

And the 4th had the calamari with salad. And we're quite delighted to find out that they could have extra tzatziki. Because who doesn't need extra tzatziki?

For dessert the other three shared a key lime pie made from scratch so don't expect your neon green stuff here. Plus a chocolate ganache layered torte which looked amazing. Again made from scratch in their kitchen.

Nice suggestions on the wine. I would never have ordered anything called 'Wine O'clock' but it was actually a decent Pinot Grigio and I would suggest it to those who want something that is quite mellow and drinkable but not super dry like a sav blanc. (Although one person did order that and thought it was quite good ). Understandable but still a shame that some of the nicer bottles are not available by the half litre or glass.

Simple yet private tables on the patio. be prepared for cooler temperatures because of the wind chill as well as a lot of noise from the continual aircraft takeoff and landing. The older gents seem to love this however.

Interior. all of the tables are separated by privacy screens for covid-19 yet also done in a way that doesn't make you feel like it is a sterile hospital like environment. A little bit of aesthetic design quality and that is appreciated. The air conditioning, however was set ridiculously high and unbearably cold, so we were glad that there was an outside option.

Normally my reviews have accompanying photos, however we were there for of a family memorial so it was not appropriate.

ideally I would say 4.5 stars as it's not a five-star restaurant but it is doing very well for a small town when there is food and staffing issues with the entire covid-19.

Very impressed. highly recommend it. Be sure to call in advance for reservations on...

Made a reservation to celebrate Mother's Day, made sure to mention four adults and one toddler. Upon arrival we were greeted and told we could take the open seat by the window, we started to walk that way ourselves. I asked the greeter, who we later found out she would be our server Kim, if they had a high chair which she seemed confirmed in a short & not so friendly manner. Hard for any smiles or genuine greeting, a high chair was brought to our table and she started to take away one of the chairs to which we quickly advised that my father in law was still on his way in. She sharply snapped that the high chair couldn’t block the aisle, so we moved our seats to accommodate it on one side. Already feeling very unwelcome she did attend to our water/drink orders quite quickly but gave the impression that our table was quite a bother. Yes, our toddler was excited to see the planes, which along with the kids menu was one of our reasons for picking this location, but for the most part was well behaved and I even left the table with him to go to the lobby so that he wouldn’t disturb other customers with his excitement as one plane landed and another took off. Yes, the food was good and the other severs seemed happy and welcoming particularly a younger female server who seemed to make a point to smile at me more than once and also brought us a to go container when we inquired, but perhaps we got Kim on a bad day. A shame for a $130 plus tip bill and some dampening of our Mother’s Day...

Unfortunately, first and last visit.

For the most part the food was good and prepared nicely. Loved the outdoor seating and being able to watch planes come and go.

The server was a whole different story. One person in my party was a vegetarian. They ordered the Breakfast Wrap requesting that the meat be substituted with avocado, adding that she was a vegetarian. The wrap came with sausage and no avocado. This was discovered after a couple bites. When the server came back, she initially didn’t apologize and then asked, “So hold the green pepper?” 😳. Once again it was emphasized that the preference was for a wrap with no meat but rather avocado. The server apologized for the mistake however, the tone of the apology lacked any sincerity. Ten minutes later, the server returned proudly announcing the breakfast bowl 😳! It was again explained to her that a wrap was ordered. Nevertheless, in order to move forward with our brunch, the breakfast bowl was accepted. About ten minutes later, the server came and asked the same guest if they wanted more coffee. The answer was, “No, thank you.” Five minutes later she came back with a carafe of decaf coffee asking the same guest if she wanted more coffee.

This server had to realize that delivering a vegetarian a dish with meat is extremely disrespectful and offensive. She clearly didn’t demonstrate any concern for...

The final approach is inside the airport building. Has lovely views of the airport and often something interesting going on on the tarmac. Staff are attentive, knowledgeable of their menu and generally happy. The food has always been really good, portion sizes are filling and delicious. I have had the fish and chips, halibut and throughly enjoyed them. Last night I tried the chorizo and prawn linguini and was nicely surprised by the amount of sausage and prawns I got. Was amazing. Would definitely recommend trying this establishment if you are in the area. Note to owners, please see picture for an unfortunate visual to your building signage at the approach angle from the parking lot at night.

Little Airport, Big Heart Vancouver Island's Qualicum airport might be small and lack a control tower, but it packs a surprising punch. The on-site restaurant, accessed through the bar, serves up delicious food with impressive accommodation for dietary restrictions. While the meal was excellent, it was the service that truly elevated the experience. Elijah, our server, went above and beyond. Even after we'd finished eating and paid, and we chatted for a while, he came over and offered to refill our coffee, demonstrating a genuine desire to enhance our visit. This unexpected touch of hospitality is what earned this little airport restaurant a five-star rating.

Great service and good food. We flew in from the mainland just for this restaurant. Everyone we encountered here was super friendly with the warm island vibe which in itself was worth the flight. This time we got the weekend brunch menu. While being still decent, imo it was not as good as how I remembered the lunch/dinner items. The brunch was good, but the steak sandwich and fish and chips we had on the previous visit were top notch.
