I saw this restaurant had a great rating and was in a neat town so I checked it out. The first thing we get is complimentary bruschetta. Are you kidding? That's already worth 5 stars and it only gets better! There was a large selection of beverages including Italian beer. The menu was great for a full meal or a light lunch. Having been to Italy this is the only "authentic" Italian restaurant I have ever eaten at in North America that deserves that title. All of the food was fresh and tasted delicious. You cannot buy the food that was served in city grocery stores. The prosciutto was not overly salty and had proper texture, the boccocini tasted fresh and was not over powering, and the fenel in the sausage was well balanced, enhancing the flavour instead of destroying it. The canolies we're fantastic, the best I have ever eaten. The shells were crisp and and foavourful, and the filling was very fresh and not too rich. I highly recommend visiting Lanterna Ristorante North even if it is a bit out of your way, it is worth the drive. Can't wait to go back!

I would have given a Zero Star if possible. Had terrible experience at this restaurant. On May 19, 2024, at around 1.30pm, our group of 7 people and 1 kid reached the restaurant and we are just parking in the front, when one of the servers/restaurant guy puts a sign on the door saying 'Today - Take out only' while there are people already dining inside and points a middle finger to us. Till now we have not even stepped down from our vehicles. Considering we didn't want to have terrible experience, we left from the place without even going inside. Luckily, in just an hour time (2.35pm), we happened to cross by in front of the restaurant and they had that sign removed and for them it was business as usual. People like this brings negativity and terrible customer service to restaurants. This is a genuine review and would have given them Zero starts if possible coz these restaurants doesn't deserve to be in business. Horrible behavior, would never ever come to this type of restaurant.

The town is famous for its elegance and stunning scenery. After wandering around the beautiful town, we wanted to find a place with great service and food for lunch. When we arrived, I saw a small shop that also sold Italian groceries. There are only few tables, but the friendly service of the young man made us comfortable. It turned out that the research was correct. Not only was I not disappointed, but I was surprised to find that they used high-quality materials and reasonable prices. Like other customers, I have to give them high praise. The Caesar salad was moderately seasoned. The two of us had little appetite and ordered a plate of pasta to share. Not only did they not dislike it, they also took good care of us and divided it into two plates. I didn’t expect that a small place would be so good! But we soon knew that they deserved the name, because we saw a constant flow of takeout customers while dining, and the restaurant was soon full.

We had ordered food for take out a number of times during the pandemic and always found it to be tasty but the last time we ordered the pizza was cold and the onions on the sandwiches were well under cooked which meant they were bitter and sharp - not sweet. End of the day pastries were…well end of day quality. All in all pretty disappointing.

I decided to give it another try but when I explained what had gone wrong with our order the last time, their reaction was to explain that we should have brought that up the day of the order. Well fair enough but we picked the order up 15 minutes before they closed. Once we knew the food was substandard it was too late to call. I was really disappointed with the quality of food last time but to be honest I was more disappointed with the customer service response to a customer that has spent hundreds of dollars in their restaurant without complaint over the course of the summer.

When they’re busy food quality is hit and miss. Sometimes when you’re running a restaurant food quality can get away from you however customer service is something you should always be able to control.

In response to this review the owner has chosen to paint me as an angry bully rather than trying to make the situation right. It was a fair review and I was not abusive when I spoke to the staff. Trying to negate a poor review doesn’t...

Terrible attitude, nothing special inside the restaurant, basically you eat besides the groceries, about the food it's ok but not fantastic (average Italian food). Unfortunately in Lagoon City there 3 options only. Otherwise you drive like 25 mins to Orillia which closest town and where you find more options.

We have eaten in the place several times without any problem with our friends, but this last time WE decided NOT TO EAT there, because the girl at the counter was quite rude, (heavy girl with glasses) she spoke to us in a very rude tone, anyways we sat down and some of we did not feel welcome in the place, the employee who was at the table behind us heard our conversation and suggested that we go to the only other place in that wild wings area, honestly we were surprised by the suggestion, not normal that someone doesn’t try hold or keep the customer, in this case we were a group of 7 adults ready to eat a lot and generate a good bill and a good tip as always do. We decided to follow te advice and we went to another restaurant in Oriillia which happily accepted our business .

Honestly i'm surprised with the little vision of business since this place it’s only open for the season.

Not...
