The Optimist Eatery & Cafe — Restaurant in Redvers

So very close to a good time...

Excellent small-town "lounge" with a strong whiff of class. Menu prices are poor to fair, service is intermittently good, but the food is excellent. Environment is clean, up-scale, good view of main Street, washrooms are well-stocked and clean. There's a gentlemen that likes to show face when it's busy, I'm assuming a vested owner and he's very friendly, genuinely cares about his patrons, calls people by names, asks real questions, etc. He gets 5-stars, but he's got quite the collection of passionate but untrained employees. Perhaps if he can hang onto some of this undeveloped talent for a year or two, he would fly true to his goal.

All that being said, it's the only licensed restaurant that I could see in town. That alone is...

All I can say is WOW! Tried their new sushi menu and was blown away at how fresh it was. Hand rolled right in front of everyone. The chef is a true artist. The Redvers Roll had us nearly moaning with how wonderful it was. The veggies are crisp, the salmon and shrimp tasted like it came from the sea this morning (which is amazing for the prairies) and the rice was perfect. I will tell everyone to come try...

Stopped in for an early supper travelling from Winnipeg back to Estevan. Great little place!, Very clean and well stocked bathrooms, nice modern decor, great view of main street and very friendly and courteous staff. Great thin crust pizza !!
