If we are honest, leaving a review for a fast food chain restaurant often says more about the critic than it does the food or the experience, and certainly can't be representative of the spectrum of variables said chain restaurant might experience over the course of even a single day, based on any number of outliers beyond the control of an employee of that establishment. Maybe especially when that restaurant is located rural mid-prairie.
I entered Dairy Queen in Rosthern at 4:15 pm on Saturday, May 28 2022, as a flux of soccer tournament traffic was exiting the community and descending upon the unassuming restaurant. What I saw while I was waiting slightly-longer-than-average for my fast food were predominantly young employees managing swarming circumstances while still paying critical attention to detail. I saw not one but two employees double and triple-checking the receipt for my family-of-five order to ensure correctness. Someone made multiple trips from behind the counter with my order in hand rather than shouting a number at me across the chaos of hundreds of ravenous 10-year-old soccer players and their parents. This person smiled as they handed me our order, an act which of itself cost them precious extra seconds in the midst of a hangry feeding frenzy.
I thought it pertinent to leave these details here because they might seem like minutiae to parties not versed in recognizing their significance, and those parties would miss the genuine work ethic it takes to endure the litany of service-industry abuses one encounters in these positions and still smile when handing someone their order amidst a backdrop of glowering, still-waiting, famished families.
I see a few reviews here that protest the length of time it took to receive a fast-food order, thus garnering a low rating. "20 minutes" seems to be a common theme. I cannot speak to those situations and how many simultaneous orders existed, but I placed my order while the drive-thru line up trailed well into the parking lot entrance and it was difficult to move within the facility due to the number of bodies. My order took approximately 20 minutes and the meal was, incidentally, exactly what I needed it to be.
In summation, I predicate that if you find yourself in the Greater Rosthern Area (GRA) with an additional 20 minutes in your pocket, it would be well spent here on industry-standard food and an exceptional (understated)...
Read moreThis was a great DQ. Staff were very accommodating, as we arrived at 9pm and they were closing the restaurant with only the drive-thru still open, but we had a truck and trailer and didn't think we could actually drive through. We asked if we could walk through the drive, and they laughed and let us order inside and take it to go. Thanks for that😊. Then the food: yummy 😋. The chicken bites were tasty and tender, the burger was good and the chicken strips and fries were good. Even though it was late and close to closing, the staff did a great job. The blizzards were also yummy. Fall flavours were a hit! Well...
Read moreAvoid their non carbonated fountain drinks! I visited about a month ago and got an extremely watered down lemonade. Thought perhaps it was growing pains & something that could be easily corrected. I completed a survey to bring it to their attention. Dairy Queen completely disregards customer feedback as I ordered an iced tea yesterday and it was severely watered down. It's unfortunate because everything is great about this location, especially the staff. Management should not be trying to cut corners by sacrificing quality. That's not how to properly build a new...
