Spero's Pizza Gimli — Restaurant in Rural Municipality of Gimli

It was a nice day to take a day trip to Gimli, and based upon reviews, we wanted to get a Speros pizza. We ordered take-out and when we picked it up, the owner invited us in. He is very friendly & knowledgable about pizza and makes you feel welcome. I’ve been making pizzas since I was a kid, so we had quite the engaging conversation. I ordered a cheese pizza, and my hubby ordered a ham & pineapple. The pizzas are large with a nice cornicione of dough around it. The crust was a work of art; crispy on the outside, and fluffy & chewy on the inside. The tomato sauce was very flavourful & fresh. My only complaint is that it needed a lot more cheese and a little more sauce to balance it out. The thin layer of cheese kind of browned up quite a bit & was sort of dry; it kind of “dried” up into the sauce, more like cheese bread, so you didn’t get that gooey mouthful of thick cheese nicely coated with sauce. My hubby liked his ham & pineapple, but again, he said it needed more topping & cheese as it was kind of “dry”. But other than that, a very delicious pizza. We will definitely go back and order again on our next day trip, and visit with Spero, but this time around I will order extra sauce & extra, extra cheese, as I like a nice, cheesy,...

What is there to say about Spero that hasn't already been said? This man is clearly someone that knows his way around a pizza oven that is for certain. We ordered a pizza from Spero's this past weekend while out at the lake and truthfully had no idea what to expect. We had not read any reviews and knew nothing about the joint. Well let me tell you did we ever stumble upon a gem! I can no longer think of a scenario where I am visiting Gimli and would not be picking up a pie from my man Spero. Heck, I would probably even drive in from the city for it. From the delicious hand made crust to the abundance of delicious toppings, this pizza really has it all. We had seen alot of positive reviews on facebook about Spero's Pizza the last few months, and had to give it a try!

We ordered the Deluxe pizza this past weekend and it was SO GOOD! the pizza crust is a thicker crust. Airy with the perfect chew. The sauce was so flavourful yet didn't over power any other ingredient. The toppings piled high, and you get a bite of all the toppings in every bite. so many topping and the crust still stands on its own. The beautiful char from the oven added such a nice taste.

His pizza is the perfect example of putting love into what you do! And not just going through the motions. And you taste the difference.

Definitely up there as one of the best pizzas we have had in years!!
