Café Sud & Hotel St-Bernard — Restaurant in Saint-Bernard-de-Lacolle

This hotel is being used by the border officials alongside the trailers nextdoor to house those crossing the border seeking refuge and asylum. Although some reviews here are cynical and a bit rude, this is informative:

Those who cross at Roxham Road, cross here at Blackpool, or the other smaller locations are all shuttled here after crossing in order to claim asylum or refugee status. The border officials can take a few hours to a few days to determine if a claim is valid. If it is, a PCR test is taken. If negative, there is a shuttle which takes individuals to Montreal to various locations. If the claim is denied, individuals are turned back to the states. If they're turned back because they crossed at Blackpool/Champlain then they typically just hop in a taxi and go to Roxham Road and try again.

The hotel is used for housing people while waiting for PCR results. There is a restaurant beside it which has food and they also sometimes take people to the Tim Hortons just 5min away.

This hotel is nice, clean, and has wifi. Overall, a nice hotel if you are in need of staying whilst dealing with immigration. It may one day return to a regular hotel.....

Hotel and pool were very nice! The restaurant was a disaster - took over an hour to get food and restaurant was not even busy. Wrong food delivered and some people didn't get their meal (table of 7) We were told they were out of certain items on the menu only to see other people ordering and receiving those items (ribs) an hour after we were told they didn't have any. I finally received my meal after everyone else at my table had already finished eating (and ate alone as my husband took our kids to bed as they were exhausted) Asked for a discount and was told because I ate my food I had to pay full price!!! Very poor customer service! If you stay at this hotel eat at the truck stop across the road - their food and service...

I can't say enough good things about this hotel. Reception was swift and gave me all the necessary info. Free WiFi ( Great signal ) . Free coffee - they have this great Van Houtte latte machine ! The rooms are standard but very clean . Staff always friendly and efficient . The restaurant is fantastic. Pub food at its finest. You can't beat the price .
