Le Shack à Patates — Restaurant in Saint-Ferréol-les-Neiges

Traveling from Michigan, USA, we stopped in for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. This was clearly a place that the locals enjoy since many came and went while we were there. The staff was warm and friendly and advised us on menu offerings, of which there are many. If you’re looking to try the poutines, get a variety in the Bébé (Baby) size since poutine is filling. I don’t know how much English they may speak here since I did all the conversing in French but it doesn’t make a difference. When people are as friendly as these people are, anyone can get by. Best poutine I have ever had !!!

It's definitely worth the detour. The poutine sauce is so full of flavour, the french fries are cooked to perfection, and the cheese they use really rounds out the whole dish. The cheeseburger was delicious and cooked to perfection, and the hotdog was dressed perfectly.

But a must is their swirl ice cream and sorbet, vanilla/raspberry... I bought a large to share with my daughter and fully regret not getting her her own. It was absolutely delicious!!!!!

They have their own hot sauce, which was delicious, not too spicy, and full of flavour, I ended up buying a bottle to bring home.

First poutine in 15 years and if you take the Shack with mushrooms it doesn't get any better. I am an athlete and the BB size was plenty! Honestly now this is exquisite Quebec cuisine so definitely not McDonald's kind of junk food!

Chef said vegetarian burger was the best and she was absolutely right. No Beyond Meat crap from Costco, this is the real thing.

Top up this culinary experience with their swirl raspberry ice cream and call it a day. Walk down to the river path to burn the calories and return to your tent, hotel or home with a deep feeling of content.
