I wish I could give a thousand stars to these wonderful people. Francois and Sophia are living their dream with passion and joy and are willing to share them without reservation. There are two parts to les Jardins, a full functioning commercial organic farm and a gourmet restaurant. The farm is compact and either of the owners will gladly talk to you about irrigation, pest control, and maintaining a productive biome with such a short growing season. The fields are located in a forested area that was in full color when we visited. After walking the grounds, we adjourned to the restraunt for a glorious 4 course lunch with wine. A squash soup, tomato salad and a seafood ravioli that will break your heart. The fresh grill roasted sour dough bread was a perfect complement. Les Jardis was an excursion offered by Viking for the Saguenay port call. It was a 45 min drive from the pier. The tour of the farm involved some walking, but not for long and not uphill. There are dogs; they are used to keep deer and moose out of the crops. They ignored the tour once they decided we weren't deer or moose.
