IN ENGLISH AND FRENCH Went to Resto de la Plage for lunch today the first time. There were two of us we ordered the calamari and crab cakes for appetizer and both had the fish (1 piece, cod) and chips. We were NOT IMPRESSED my crab cake was fine however the panko crusted, deep fried calamari was severely overcooked and hard as a rock. When we were served the fish and chips, the identical pieces (obviously frozen from a box) of fish were over cooked and the (frozen from a bag) fries were horrible. Most people were not eating the fries. I noticed another table was also served over cooked calamari. So for 2 iced tea, 2 appetizers and 2 orders of fish and chips, I was charged $93.00! That’s insane for overcooked prepackaged seafood. Also if you read earlier posts about the hostess ignoring customers walking in and letting them wait for up to 15 minutes before being seated, they still have that issue.

The restaurant sits on the St. Lawrence River. We sat outside, it was a beautiful view of the river and the weather for the evening was perfect, not too warm or cool. I would say when we arrived, approximately 1.5 hours before closing, the restaurant was at 50% capacity. The wait staff was busy with their jobs. We waited about an hour for our dinners to be served. We ordered one app and it was served in about 20 min after it was taken. The app we had ( party of 3) was 6 oysters on the half shell. I am not sure if the service was slow or just the culture of the area. We had our drink orders taken when we were seated, they arrived with 10 min. After that, we had to flag the server down for additional drinks or water. The server walked past us constantly, but never checked to see if we wanted or needed more drinks. I was told by a person who has visited Canada more times than myself, that the service was normal. The dinner was fine. Shrimp tacos had shrimp that were very small, looked like canned shrimp. The meal did come with 3 tacos and they were full and tasty. Lobster mac and cheese, large portion, cheese and sauce on the light side compared to the American dish, but it didn't overshadow the delicate flavor of the lobster. Duck confit salad was beautifully presented with a lovely selection of greens and roasted vegetables. Duck was tasty but seemed a little dry. The server learned we had a birthday at the table and presented him with a sparkler in his dessert with the birthday song in French. Very nice. All in all, I would return to this restaurant. There was nothing wrong with our evening, but a few tweaks could make this establishment a true...

TLDR: Amazing food, poor service

The food at Resto de la Plage is really good. This was my second time going and the food was exceptional both times

The service this time however left a lot to be desired. I called to make a reservation and asked if there was AC in the restaurant to which they replied yes. Upon arrival inside the restaurant the temperature must have been at least 35°C. The hostess said that they have AC but it's not working properly and all the tables outside are reserved.

If the AC isn't working properly just tell me when I ask in the reservation. It's completely understandable that things break but just tell me when I ask so I can reserve a table outside.

Then our waitress never came to check on the table after delivering the food, never refilled our water (its still 35° inside) and we sat around for about 20 minutes waiting for her to come back so we could ask for the bill.

I almost never write critical reviews since most of the time any little problems aren't enough to warrant complaints and I don't want to single anyone out but I hope management reads this and fixes it. The quality of food at this restaurant deserves...

We were excited to see this restaurant open, as on TripAdviser it showed it as closed. Sadly that’s where the excitement ended. The restaurant itself is in a beautiful location, which saved it just a bit. Our waiter, though friendly, smelled of cigarettes. They are charging upscale prices ($15 for a children’s meal!) yet the waitstaff are all in denim and/or shorts. The food was subpar. My son ordered a burger and the fries, tho plentiful, were cold and soggy. My lobster bisque was rich and tasty, but only lukewarm. The highlight was the fresh oysters. We saw crème brûlée as a dessert, and, that being my favourite dessert, we ordered it to share. It took almost 25 minutes to reach us and it was appalling. There was no satisfying ‘crack’ of the top, as it, too, was lukewarm. The custard was more like cottage cheese and for some reason they topped it with granola 🤷‍♀️. The long and the short of it is, they’re trying to be upscale but failing. Save your money and try a local, less touristy venue. I’m sure you’ll be pleased.

Beautiful restaurant located on the water with a breathtaking view and amazing food. I am sometimes sceptical of restaurants that have very nice views as I’m often disappointed in the food and realize that they are depending too much on location than on flavour to attract tourists. This is definitely not the case here. The food was amazing and the view came secondary. My group was impressed by the fish and chips and we agreed they were the best we have ever had. We loved that the menu indicated which items contained local ingredients as well as the addition of strawberries in many of the dishes to highlight the islands fruit that it is know for. Service was super quick and the staff was super kind and knowledgeable regarding the menu. The staff was also bilingual which is great for tourists visiting from outside of Quebec. I will definitely return and recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting the island!

Nice ambiance, friendly staff and breath taking terrace. Their menu has a great variety of dishes. If you are not really into seafood, there are different options for burgers and pasta. I think there are also options for vegetarians. My husband said that his burger was delicious, the french fries that comes with it were crunchy (like french fries should be!). My fish and chips was also delicious and the fish was crunchy outside and soft inside. The portion is well served and more than enough for one person. I don't agree with other reviewers about the high prices, this restaurant charge prices that are in the average compared to other restaurants of the same level.
