On a bike trip, after a swim in the lake, I stopped at this place around 10:30. The outside terrace is great, the inside looks bleak like a retirement home. Staff of early-twenties makeup girls, a bit aloof to the people, avoiding eye contact, acting the motions enough so they can claim a check and get back to their instagram life. Every sentence from them feels like it’s told the same way to everyone. In the kitchen, young dudes looking like they don’t really care. Pretty much everything on the menu is between 21.99 and 23.99. No breakfast options. There are specials of the day, but at the same price as the rest. Ended up taking a bacon and mushroom burger that should have been 15$, but was 24. Arrived opened on the plate, in two piles, old trick to make you feel like the plate is better filled than it really is. Some fries. Nothing else. Just okay, not impressive, the patty was dripping it’s cooking juices all over my plate. I suspect the bacon was precooked, was dry, thin and flavorless. I asked for mayo for the fries and they wanted 1$ surcharge so I refused, feeling I was already paying enough. I had coffee too, average drip coffee, not good, in a mug that smelled of dishwashing soap. The music was also very annoying, a soulless collection of 70s and 80s radio hits we’ve all heard too many times already, played too loud for the mood of the place. As soon as I was finished, the server rushed me into paying my bill, asking how I’d pay as she was already pushing buttons on her machine, not a single look at me. In the end the bill was a few cents short of 30$. That’s a lot for what I got. Paid with 40$, and the server asked me if I wanted the change, hinting that I should leave the remaining 10 as tips. Oh yes I do want the change. Do I recommend it? No, not at all. Lacks pride, honesty, effort, and respect for their clients. Left feeling...
Read moreHad dinner there with family members from the United States on Saturday September 9, 2023. Was a party of 4.
We ordered 3 appetizers which consisted of mussels, artichoke dip and the lobster stuffed potato skins.
The artichoke dip was amazing, mussels had at least 10 that were BAD. The lobster stuffed potato skins were a JOKE!! Was served the 3 most TINIEST potatoes I've ever seen!! They didn't even look like potatoes, they were so tiny. I wish I had taken a picture of them cause they don't EVEN COME CLOSE TO THE PICTURE LILY'S SHOWS ON THEIR SITE!!
Our entrees consisted of these 4.
Seafood Linguini which was excellent. Blackened Haddock which was okay. Chicken stir fry which was okay. 3 different scallop dish which the PAN fried scallops were more liked BOILED, NOT PAN FRIED AT ALL. THE SCALLOPS HAD NO BROWN ON THEM AT ALL! THEY WERE NOT SEARED PROPERLY! THE SCALLOPS WRAPPED IN BACON WAS THE BEST.
All in all, not a great experience for our first visit, CANNOT see us revisting this restaurant !! Especially with our guests from the US as we felt that there was some PREJUDICE happening as one of our guests was African American!
WE HAD HEARD SO MANY GREAT THINGS ABOUT THIS RESTAURANT BUT ALL IN ALL VERY...
Read moreWe had an amazing experience with Lilly’s in Saint John New Brunswick! The food was absolutely delicious with generous portions and a ton of fresh seafood. We ordered the lobster roll and the seafood linguine — both were packed with flavour and perfectly cooked. I’m a huge fan of clam chowder, and their Chowder cup did not disappoint — creamy, hearty, and just the right amount of seasoning. We also tried the bacon-wrapped scallops. While they were rich and tasty, be prepared for a buttery base — perfect if you’re a butter lover, but something to know in advance!
We chose takeout since their dog-friendly patio was quite busy when we arrived. It actually worked out perfectly — just a short walk away there are lovely little pavilions and picnic tables by the ponds, which made for a peaceful and scenic dining spot. Highly recommend Lilly’s for fresh seafood, great takeout options, and a real East Coast charm. We’ll...
