Le Quai – A Meal That Felt Like Destiny I have been traveling from QuĂ©bec City, following threads of ancestry, when I said aloud to my companion that the “perfect place” for lunch must be just ahead. I didn’t know where that would be. But moments later, guided by my faithful Great Path Seeker aka GPS, we curved along the river’s edge and found Le Quai, sitting as if it had been waiting for us all along. The welcome was warm, the table by the window generous with its view: wide river, quiet marina, a horizon that seemed to stretch with possibility. My meal was a perfectly cooked flank steak, crisp coleslaw, and golden frites with a savory sauce, was simple and flawless. Each bite carried the comfort of something both familiar and elevated. Yet what lingers most isn’t the food but the people. Our server, luminous with kindness, agreed to a photo, then requested her boss be included. We stepped into the kitchen and were met by a tall man with laughter so engaging it seemed to fill the walls themselves. That moment turned lunch into memory, a reminder that hospitality is an art form as nourishing as any dish. Afterward, we strolled the pier, the river light in our eyes, carrying with us not just photographs but a sense of connection. Le Quai is more than a restaurant, it’s a place where chance feels like destiny, and where a meal becomes a story worth remembering.

Wow, this had to be the best surprise of our trip. We needed a place to eat after spending the afternoon at the nearby Grosse Île Irish Memorial National Historic Site (recommended!), so I googled what was around. This place came up - OK let's give it a try. Great little find, would not have found it by accident - so much better than some chain in LĂ©vis. Where to start. Great views of the water - and a place to walk a few minutes after a meal. I love how they are modern and technically inclined - menu was available via QR code on each table. You can then browse for drinks and food, and even later pay when done. Easy and nice way to do it! Food was fantastic - we had a traditional lobster roll with big pieces of lobster, and a salmon burger with cajun flavouring - both fantastic, fresh, tasty. Additionally, there are two things I never do in a restaurant which I did here: finish the fries, and eat all the coleslaw. Fries were simply awesome, and coleslaw was perfect combination of not too creamy and not too vinegary. I hope to visit this place again next time we're in the area!

What a great place! We arrived here on our 3000km Toronto - Halifax and while my party was concerned with the fact they hardly speak any French, I was the first to arrive and be welcomed by 2 amazing ladies, not only very friendly but very helpful. We were sat at the window, having great views over the water and the little marina this place has: I always loved such places allowing you to meditate and enjoy nature, especially if they are located near a major city - so I guess there are remote chances we will return here yet I highly recommend this place. We had fish and chips, burger and lobster roll with poutine and everything was fresh and well cooked: for the first time in a long time I wish I had 2 fish and chips and not only a small one. Loved it.
