We were simply looking for an inexpensive room en route to the Gaspe Peninsula but not in a congested area. Since the inn had a French restaurant we decided to make both a room and a dinner reservation ... and were so glad we did! Yes, the room was small, and we were fortunate to get a room in the back, off of the noisy road. But the room was clean, the staff accomodating (and we were appreciative of Greg's ability to converse in English), and - quite frankly, the complimentary breakfast alone was very nearly worth the price of the room. We've seen less elaborate spreads at highly touted Sunday brunches! Our only regret was that we gorged ourselves so much on the fabulous dinner that we couldn't do justice the next morning to the breakfast that was available. Read moreWe had passed this brightly coloured auberge across from the looming church in tiny Ste Catherine de Hatley before, when visiting our son at Bishop's University in Lennoxville, but always stayed in nearby North Hatley. Now on our way to see his older brother in New Brunswick, we decided to take a chance on this place and were very glad we did. Delicious dinner and a simple but clean room (we got the only one of the six left).
