We never got a table!!!! We were a party of 6… asked early in the day for a reservation, they don’t take them for parties less than 8, but were told the wait at the time we were requesting wouldn’t be long. We presented earlier than originally planned and were told 30 mins approximately. After an hour, seeing groups of 2 and 4 consistently being given tables we inquired if our place had been ‘lost’. We were told no, and it shouldn’t be too much longer. After and 1-1/2 hours of waiting we entered the restaurant and were ignored by multiple staff. I finally just called to one rushing past us, she stopped, clearly annoyed, when I said we changed our mind about it waiting for a table, she was rude, told me that they had a table available and could seat us right away. The table was not set and it looked to be a gathering of spare tables just pushed together. When I said No, it was too late the server and another server were extremely rude to us, when I tried to explain that we had seen just before we decided to walk away a table of 5 who arrived at least 30 minutes after us, given a table, they got defensive and even more rude. I said to take us off the list, that we would find other options for supper and the original server yelled after me, “you try serving people then come tell me how to do my job”. We didn’t even acknowledge her, just walked out. We were so disappointed as we had been looking forward to this stop since planning our trip in March. If your fine with a long wait for a table the food might be good, we will never have the chance to find out. There are other restaurants in the area, I would...
Read moreDuring our tour to Québec (Nouvelle France 😄) in July, we were searching for a place to dine after a long day of activities, and we chose Capitaine Homard. It was conveniently close to our stay at the Gaspesiana Hotel. Although the restaurant was busy and full, they welcomed us and quickly prepared a table. The waitress was very helpful, recommending dishes and accommodating the changes we requested. We waited approximately 30 minutes for our main courses.
We ordered the poireau soup, linguini with smoked salmon (smoked salmon and fresh tomatoes in a creamy parmesan sauce), sea food pot au feu (crab, shrimp, scallops, and vegetables covered with puff pastry and oven-baked, served with fries and salad), and a kid’s meal trio (grilled cod with rice instead of fries, along with juice and ice cream). All three meals were delicious and perfectly seasoned. The smoked salmon in my dish was especially tasty, and I tried my son’s dish as well, which was equally yummy.
Overall, it was a great experience, and considering the price, it was affordable compared to other restaurants we visited during our tour. We loved this place and will...
Read moreThe first thing we noticed was the giant lobster standing in front of the Poissonerie. With the fresh fish right next door, the food should be excellent right?
The ambiance was nice, very nautical and lots of lobster paraphanalia, delightfully kitschy. The service was excellent, pleasant and our waiter was helpful with suggestion.
The food was... okay at best. It wasn't bad but I expected a whole lot better tasting than what we had, what with the fish store attached. My partner started with the lobster bisque, slightly watery and not a lot of lobster in it. I had the langostines with garlic butter which were a little rubbery.
Our main course included scallops for him, which "were okay, I've had better but they did the job" and I had the seafood casserole au gratin which was slightly dry with the cheese almost too hard to cut with a knife. I do have to say that the salad was lovely and the house dressing quite nice. We finished off with key lime pie that I believe was not home made but hit the spot.
All in all a bit of a disappointment but was something that...
