During our week in the Quebec City region, our culinary journey led us to Île d'Orléans, where we stumbled upon a gem of a restaurant that turned out to be the highlight of our trip. Nestled amidst stormy weather, the dining experience at this establishment was nothing short of exceptional.
The portions served were generous, satisfying our appetites without overwhelming us. Every bite was a delight, as the flavors danced on our taste buds. Despite the turbulent weather outside, the cozy atmosphere inside provided a perfect escape, creating a warm and inviting ambiance.
Our male waiter carried a hint of attitude which isn't for everyone.
The crowning glory of the meal was the breathtaking view over the St. Lawrence River, offering a stunning panorama of Quebec City. The sight was mesmerizing against the backdrop of the river, creating an unforgettable scene that complemented the exquisite meal.
Undoubtedly, this dining experience was the pinnacle of our week-long trip. Despite the stormy day and the waiter's distinct demeanor, the combination of delectable food, welcoming ambiance, and awe-inspiring view made it an experience we would gladly repeat. This hidden culinary treasure on Île d'Orléans is a definite must-visit, and we are already planning our return to...
Read moreAfter a leisurely tour around Île d'Orléans, we decided to stop by Goéliche Hôtel-Resto, almost on a whim, and we’re very glad we did. Nestled right on the shoreline, this charming spot offers not only a peaceful ambiance but also one of the loveliest views of Quebec City across the St. Lawrence River.||We sat out on the terrace and started with a sangria for me and a Hugo spritz for my wife. Both were refreshing and well balanced, perfect for a warm afternoon. For lunch, we ordered two guédilles, Quebec-style lobster and shrimp rolls. This local specialty was new to us and turned out to be a delightful discovery. Light, flavorful, and generously filled, they were easily among the best bites of our trip.||Our server, Chantal, was courteous and warm throughout, striking that rare balance between friendly and professional that makes a meal feel like a genuine pleasure.||Goéliche Hôtel-Resto is the kind of place you remember fondly. Not flashy or overdone, just quietly confident in its setting, service, and kitchen. A highly recommended stop for anyone exploring the island or simply looking to enjoy good food in a beautiful,...
Read moreMy husband and I participated in a cycling trip that started at this inn, and we were unexpectedly happy with the 2 days and nights we spent there. The inn has lovely views of the St Lawrence River from many rooms and from the dining area, and the ambiance was just right - good food and wine in a French style, friendly service, lovely views, and a mix of indoor and outdoor seating. The rooms are quite small but we slept really well there because you can open the windows and there are fans rather than air conditioners, so it felt like home, not a hermetically sealed high rise hotel. There is Ann outdoor pool that was refreshing after a day of cycling. Our group was from the US, but all the other guests were French speaking Canadians, so this auberge clearly is popular with local people. It is set in a lovely town right on the river, and there is an extremely popular ice cream place within a kilometer, so many people come in the summer for a meal or a stay at the inn and to spend some time on the island, with the Inn as their base. I would definitely...
