MONEY-HUNGRY. That is how I would describe the owner and by extension, the culture at Seaside Restaurant. My mother and I recently had dinner there during my first trip to Salt Spring Island and while the view was fantastic, the service was not. The owner had an unfriendly and gruff demeanor about him that screamed, "hambriento de poder" and his daughter (I'm assuming she's family because she displayed a similar haughty demeanor) was equally unfriendly. While our server was pleasant, she took forever to bring us an empty bowl for the mussel shells and when she finally arrived with it, my mother had to remind her to bring the extra napkins that we had asked for __ minutes ago. And just as I had suspected, they charged me for the extra bread that I had asked for to wipe the excess wine sauce from our mussels. 2 pieces of white bread = $4.00. When we left to use the washroom, it was clearly evident that it wasn't serviced on a regular basis on account of the fact that there was NO TOILET PAPER and NO PAPER TOWELS. There are plenty of other nice restaurants on the island that are run by proprietors who aren't as money-hungry as this guy. Let's support them!

Great little restaurant that can be found just steps from the Vesuivius ferry terminal. The restaurant itself has a very cute, quaint layout inside, including some incredible views of the water from the dining areas. My party made a reservation when we came here for dinner on a Sunday; this proved to be a good idea, as it was packed when we arrived. However, things had cleared out considerably by about 7. I opted to get a bowl of their New England Clam Chowder and their 2 piece cod meal. The portions were generous for the price, although you do have the option of adding an extra piece of fish for $6 for Cod and $8 for the seasonal choice. There are other options besides fish and chips, although those do seem to be the specialty. All in all, I was a big fan of the food - the fish was flavorful and nicely battered, and the chowder was rich and creamy. What's more, the woman who was serving was exceptionally friendly, and brought our food and drinks out promptly. Definitely recommend this spot - I would certainly come back!

I ordered a large pizza while we were waiting for the ferry. I was told that it would be ready in time so I proceeded to order it. We had about 20 minutes. When we got it and opened it, we were speechless. There was hardly any toppings, the cheese was sporadically thrown here and there. The topics gravitated to the middle of the pizza and were scarce. It didn’t even looked cooked or like a pizza for that matter. Just bread with broccoli, a few tomatoes thrown here and there and some meat. Unfortunately, we were already on the ferry to do anything about it. At almost $30 dollars and a food tip, I didn’t expect this.

My Mom goes here a lot and knows the staff and Owner very well and I got to experience what my mom often does. Excellent service. Professional staff. Friendly accommodating service. Happy place to walk into. Yes I have bumped my head walking up and down but I am tall and honestly I think that's like being initiated so I am cool that. The view well there are no true words on how beautiful the inlet is. Incredible but no words can do it justice. The bathrooms are quaint and clean and comfortable. The place settings and lay out of the restaurant is extremely unique and love the wooden floors and the chairs and table you feel very much like you've been swept away to a beachy Kitch. The entrees and appetizer wherever shall I begin. One (1) of each please. Delectable dishes mouthwatering fish and chips and scrumptious foods you have to try everything at least once. $$$ worth every morsel. Reservations accepted Please wait to be seated Parking is limited but worth finding a spot Being a camera Bring your happy self Enjoy we have for at least 50 years.. I was born in Vancouver but raised...

I take no pleasure in leaving a poor review for this establishment, but feel perplexed by the favourable reviews and want future customers to get the 'other viewpoint'. It's not all bad - the view is pretty if you're sitting on the outside balcony (it's obscured for inside tables) and the staff are friendly. But that's where the positive review stops. The prices are relatively high but the food, decor and service don' deliver what those prices might lead you to expect. I ordered a seafood pasta (over $20) which was bland and consisted largely of vegetables. My daughters ordered pizza and likewise found them bland. The fruit flies were a problem throughout the meal (repeatedly fished them out of my wine). As for decor, the location of the restaurant gives it potential, but it's unrealized - sparse and overly bright space that's uninviting. The service was pleasant but stopped once the food arrived. Lastly, for the price paid, it was surprising that we had to order at a counter outside before being seated. Given what this restaurant offers, it's seriously...
