I had been going to Haugen's since I was a little girl. In the past I had gone to Haugen's every year on Thanksgiving. This year, I attempted to dine with a friend. We went late afternoon to avoid the Thanksgiving dinner rush. We were seated beside a loud family and asked to be moved. Reluctantly, the young waitress allowed us to move and she started to take our order. We asked her if the loud family could be asked/told to turn their blaring radio down/off at their table. They were listening to a very loud sports game on full volume and everyone in the restaurant could hear it! She laughed it off and said that she couldn't go and ask them. She honestly, couldn't have cared less! It was on the entire time we were there. My friend and I couldn't think straight, it was so loud! A lot of shouting, taking away the possibility of enjoying a peaceful meal!
Who does that? Selfish people that couldn't care less about the people around them! Stay at home and enjoy your game, instead of ruining everyone else's Thanksgiving outing!!
People go out and pay good money to have an enjoyable meal!
We then gave it one more try and asked to speak to the Manager, which the young waitress didn't go and get. I then went and found the Manager myself.
The Manager apologized for their behaviour, but said she couldn't tell them. Seriously??
I thought that was what a Manager did?..step in when necessary.
One family is allowed to be ignorant and ruin everyone's meal in the entire restaurant? What's wrong with that picture?
Regardless, of the lack of care and duty, we were polite the entire time.
We couldn't see us enjoying a meal under those circumstances, so we left.
Haugen's you just lost two long term customers! Your level of care for ALL your customers...
Read moreHad to try it since every time we ride by we do see people in and out so seems to be the local Hotspot for Port Perry grounds. Today we decided to take a ride out and give it a try so we jumped on out bikes and headed out. Well it wasn't what we expected or set our level of expectations to be, sorry I'm not gonna sugar coat anything. Food was very bland, was what is was with little to no flavor. So if you want your chicken to be chicken with no seasoning then this is the place. The sides are limited so we took fries. They are ok but also very straight forward bland, the two option of side sauce was not very good and not whatbwe expected from a place that has been featured on tv food shows, that was the one dish. As for the crispy chicken wrap dish. That was also very tasteless and mush. Just no flavors hitting the pallet wanting me to come in for more bites. It was lacking major flavor punch and they had no alternative dipping sauces or something to add flavor. Again fries was the side. The server was pleasant, the atmosphere was outdated and looked old, dark and could use a brighter fresher look which would also be recommended for their food. We hate Swiss Chalet but if we had to pick between the two, sorry Swiss would be the better choice.. Don't think we'll go back again and this is not a review to leave any pain but we are honest and rate the scores fair.. Price for food and service provided was not worth it and left us well,...
Read moreSo I stopped at an old favourite spot today, I wanted to share a bit of the past with my daughter, we have many times spoke very highly of the chicken, ribs and sauce at Haugen's, this used to be one the best places for BBQ Chicken & Ribs, The nostalgia was at a peak its been over 20 + years since we enjoyed their mouth water dishes. So we stopped to get our favourite Whole BBQ Chicken & Full Rack of Ribs a-la-Carte. Well, either my memory has tricked me or I've been a fool for a very very long time and perhaps nostalgia should be left as a memory. we brought home what was going to be a feast amongst feasts, from days gone by, when cooking was an art and done with love, care an pride. With a huge grin on my face and very pleased with myself for providing this meal for the family. Imagine my immense disappointment when I unpacked this meal, what was supposed to be a whole chicken was cut into quarters and looks like it has been sitting under heat lights since yesterday, there is not a spec of BBQ anywhere to be found and I'm pretty sure the full rack of ribs, was split in half cause it has to be the smallest full rack of ribs I've ever seen in my life. Needless to say the nostalgia has worn off, days gone by are exactly that. I will no longer have the desire or urge to stop in an d buy anything from there again. The days when Haugen's was compared to fine dinning or 5 star status are long gone. Goodbye Haugen's ...
