Jesse's Tap & Grill — Restaurant in Selwyn

We were looking forward to trying something local that we heard good things about but we won't be going back. We arrived about 4:30pm and there were only a few people inside. We ordered the kid's steak, medium well. A chunk of meat came out very well done that none of us could even eat. My husband's burger was messy and fell apart as he was trying to eat it, my clubhouse sandwich was good. We went to the bar to ask for another drink since our server seemed to be the only person answering the phones but they just said they would tell our server and never gave us a drink. Despite the service being a little slow/absent, we could see that our server was busy and would have understood if this was the only complaint we had during our time here. She was friendly when she attended our table. When we were finally checked on by our server after receiving our meals, we told her about the steak and she offered another but by that point we were past wanting to wait for a new one. My daughter was eating some turkey and bacon from my sandwich since she couldn't chew her steak as the restaurant was filling up and there were people waiting for tables. As my daughter was still eating a man came up (I assume the owner) and asked what he can get her for dessert, I assume to clear the table for the next group. While we understood this, none of the delays of us ordering, eating or drinking were down to us. When we got the bill there was no mention of the steak by the server or owner and we were charged full price (the kid's steak is at a premium price, we would have understood paying for the regular priced kids meal since she still had the drink, fries and dessert) but there was no further effort made to rectify the problem. The card stating the table had been sanitized stayed on the table the entire time throughout our meal so not sure if it was actually sanitized, the hand sanitizer at the door was empty, they did offer spacing between tables and checked QR codes when we arrived. The highlight of the meal was undoubtedly the baked haddock - a succulent portion of haddock, pan-fried to perfection, and adorned with a mouthwatering parmesan crust that had delightful hints of zesty lemon and fresh parsley. The finishing touch was a delectable topper of spinach, tomato, and feta that elevated the dish to new heights. To complement the main course, we were served a colorful array of seasonal vegetables that added a burst of freshness to the plate.

The fish and chips were nothing short of crispy perfection. The golden-brown coating encased tender and flaky fish, delivering a satisfying crunch.

As for the kids, they couldn't have been happier with their choice of pogos accompanied by a heaping pile of deliciously seasoned fries. For dessert, they were treated to apple juice and yogurt tubes, which they thoroughly enjoyed.

In addition to the delectable food, the service was exemplary. The staff were warm, friendly, and attentive, ensuring that we had a memorable dining experience. With quick service and a welcoming atmosphere, Jesse's Tap and Grill truly left a lasting...

Any time I am in the area, I enjoy stopping in at Jesse's Tap & Grill for dine in or take out. The food is always delicious, the service is always wonderful and the atmosphere is like being at a friend's house hanging out.

Recently, I was at a family celebration when I noted several hockey kids running excitedly into the restaurant. There is a large room available for hockey teams, birthday parties and more! It is great because the restaurant can cater to large or small groups without affecting all the clientelle. I appreciated seeing the interactions with the regulars and can guarantee that you will enjoy this place!

Update: I brought two friends of mine here as we had an event to go to in the area and we were all impressed! The service was great, the restaurant was packed for the Olympics and the food was delicious! Even ordered some ceasars to spice things up. Plenty of parking.
