Nice set up and location. I love the atmosphere outside in their patio and eating space on the grass area. Service is slow but the staff are warm and friendly. The food overall, not that good and overpriced. The fish and chips and fish sandwich are the only decent things on the menu. They are not consistent at all. The first time going the fish sandwhich and fish and chips were fantastic. Perfectly battered and fried, the chips were crispy and perfectly salted. The bread and tartar sauce were on point. To top it off the fish didn’t have excess oil. But then I went a second and third time and I was heavily disappointed. The fish was soggy, over oiled nothing like the first time. I have given it many try’s following those disappointments and each time I tried something new in the menu same dissatisfaction. They have Pasta Bolognese but their version was called Bolognaise which I would t feed to my dog. If you’re looking for a nice atmosphere and to get a drink then I would recommend this place. If you’re coming for a bite to eatsave your money and hunger for another place, unless the waitress can guarantee the cooks in the back will be giving you a stellar fish and chips like I had the first time. I gave up chasing...

Thankfully, it was a beautiful evening, and we seated ourselves outside on the patio. Unfortunately, that was where the best part ended. There were 3 of us. We traveled by boat and arrived as the last lock was rising. There were 2 other tables which had eaten and one table waiting for their food to arrive I informed the staff that we had seated ourselves outside. The waitress retrieved our beverages but could have been more straightforward about an extra charge for an extra sauce. We had no qualms about the additional charge, but perhaps others are not as congenial. We never saw our server again. Regardless, we waited for over 90 minutes for a toasted western with fries and an order of 5 chicken fingers with fries, tossed with Buffalo & hot honey sauces. The western was great, and the chicken fingers, I believe, were made and tossed when the order was generated and then left to wait for the rest of the order to be completed. Lackluster, to say the least about the chicken finger meal. $50 for 2 meals and a few soft drinks. Chances are we...

UPDATE: Thank you to the owner for their reply. We decided to give it another chance tonight. We let our server know about our last experience and they reassured us the fish would be crispy. The experience was great AND our food was delicious. We were not disappointed!

Lock 42 Grill was recommended to us by friends, and we visited on June 30th around 5-6pm. Our family (three people) sat outside and it was lovely. The server was friendly and efficient. We were happy with the deal on Tall Boys. When the fish and chips arrived it was hot and the portion was impressive. However, after several bites of the fish, we all noticed our batter was too thick, and as a result, uncooked inside. We ate the fish and left the batter. We did not comment to the sever on the day of, but wanted to share our feedback with the business, as the experience was great and if the batter had been cooked throughout we would’ve...

This is a GREAT little restaurant, not far from Hwy 11 in Simcoe County just North of Washago. Stopped in last week for an early birthday dinner with my better half. She ordered a burger and fries, and I had their highly-recommended fish and chips. The burger was cooked beautifully, the bun toasted perfectly, and the toppings were fresh. My fish and chips (Haddock) was 2 large pieces fried in their house made seasoned batter, also served with fresh-cut French fries, slaw, and lemon wedge. Their spin on ā€œtarterā€ sauce is VERY creative…the only way I can describe it is a creamy dill sauce that was out of this world. I would bathe in it, if I could be sure the cops wouldn’t show and ruin the party. The front of house staff are terrific, and very friendly. The cook has a talent that I’ve rarely appreciated outside of Toronto or Chicago. I whole heartedly recommend this place and anticipate many returns.

This old place, at lock 42 has been renovated and turned into a new grill. On our little country cruise, we just noticed it accidentally. I hope they will survive, out in the woods there. I have never seen another local place that offers tofish & and chips. Totally yummy. Those are beer battered tofu sticks, fried like fish. Marilyn has the classical fish & and chips. She loved hers too. The prices are like everywhere else nowadays. Our visit and food was perfect. I hope it will be like this every time, because we will go back, even though it's off our normal routes. So, - ready for a Lil road trip?

First time visiting yesterday after discovering it a few weeks ago. We ordered takeout, and sat down at a picnic table overlooking the locks. Lock 42 classic burger and fish and chips. Everything was perfectly scrumptious, not a single crumb was left. Photos are of some awesome painted rocks I found on the grounds, our food, and some drinks that they served (that I have been searching everywhere for).šŸ˜…ā¤ļø We will definitely return, hopefully sooner than later.
