My first time in Shaunavon and honestly was becoming disheartened at the lack of higher quality restaurants, I was delighted to find Harvest Eatery. I attended alone as I was in town for work. My server Jordan was upbeat and friendly despite my visit being quite late in the evening and approaching closing time. The only thing that made me question health matters were Jordan's abnormally long nails which appeared to be professionally installed, that most food service workers would tend to avoid to reduce risks of bacteria accumulation.
I decided to go all out and get some extra sides given the eclectic feel of the menu options.
Corn, obvious smokey flavour and peppery aftertaste.
Cheese biscuit, warmed and fresh. Perfectly cooked and topped.
Tomato coleslaw, interesting flavour. Could use a bit more tartness.
Hot potato salad, perfect temperature and balance of flavours.
Side of shrimp, slightly cool by the time I got to them. Well seasoned. Quite large.
Side of mushrooms, perfectly seasoned and cooked.
Brisket, obvious smokey bark, tender core with exception of one small peice.
Portion sizes of all elements well balanced with the meal.
Overall, a memorably enjoyable visit to a hidden gem in a seemingly mundane town. Pricing is high, but certainly is reflectant of the quality of the food, service and atmosphere combination. I also enjoyed examining the multiple oil paintings in the dining area which are for sale. I'll definitely be returning if I'm in...
Read moreWe’ve been coming to this restaurant annually and typically dine here on both Friday and Saturday nights during our visits—it’s been one of our favorites for the past few years. However, this year felt quite different from our previous experiences.
One of the changes we noticed right away was the staff. In past years, we’ve enjoyed seeing familiar faces, especially our usual waitress, but this time all of the front-of-house staff appeared to be new, with the exception of the chef. While everyone was friendly, there seemed to be some growing pains—long waits for simple drink orders, staff appearing flustered, and some uncertainty around the menu, which had also changed from previous years.
The food, as always, was delicious—consistent in quality and flavor, which we really appreciated. However, we did notice a significant change in portion sizes. Compared to past years, the dishes were noticeably smaller, yet the pricing remained the same or possibly even increased. For the first time, after ordering two appetizers, two mains, and a dessert between the two of us, we actually left still feeling hungry—something that’s never happened here before.
We’re still fans of the restaurant and appreciate the incredible work happening in the kitchen. We hope these front-of-house changes are just part of a transitional phase, and we look forward to seeing how things...
Read moreAbsolutely AMAZING experience. The food was so tasty. We started eith KFC wings ( Korean Fried Chicken wings) that were sweet and spicy and served with a side of Kimchi. I wish I could by bottles of that Kimchi! Everything is made from scratch..and they buy the meat from the local butcher.
The wings were so moist but the coating was nice and crisp. They prepare these in a special way so that they are not double fried and dried out.
The rib and brisket combo was so moist and tasty. The warm potato salad was the best potato salad I have ever eaten.
We ended with the creme brule which was a very nice finish.
Rusty, the owner and head chef came out and chatted with us about the meal. Very friendly and wants to ensure that he is offering a truly unique and awesome experience..not only for his customers, but also his staff. He is totally doing this.
Tianna was our waitress and she was very attentive, friendly and knew the menu really well.
An incredible experience. If you are ever close to this area...make sure to make reservations in advance. You won't regret it. Thanks for the wonderful food...
