Ralph's Downeast Diner — Restaurant in Ship Harbour

A nice interior dining space that's more upscale than a typical diner. Large deck in front with big picnic tables that could accommodate six or eight people. I stopped by for a cheeseburger platter and a pop. Perhaps I'm stingy but just north of $20 seemed a little expensive. The burger did not disappoint. It was a nice fresh charbroiled patty with a very unique and special toasted bun. If you love and are familiar with the buns you usually get from hellofresh this is not unlike that. We stopped in after a Fall hike to Taylor Head Park, and we super happy with the food, price and service. We were a group of 5 who had pan fried haddock ($12), fish and chips and the Sunday special, fish cakes, beans, chow chow and a molasses bun ($13.95). We all opted for a coconut cream pie to go ($4) which was stellar - you would have paid $9-10 in Halifax for the portion we were given too. We live in the area and wanted to try Ralph's for lunch one day. We waited over an hour for 3 orders of fish and chips and a chicken burger. This was on a Tuesday afternoon and it was not busy. The food was very overcooked. The chicken breast in the burger was so tough it was hardly edible. When we mentioned it to the women at the counter she said it was because they take them out of the freezer to order but she did not apologize or offer to correct the situation.
