D's Place — Restaurant in Silton

Silton, SK. D's recent addition of an eat in dining room makes this more than a take-out and ice cream stand. The owner says they plan to be open year-round and will be liquor licensed. We've rode out from the city on motorcycles for ice cream, but this time we came prepared for supper and to sit outside on a beautiful fall ride. Pleasantly surprised at the eat in option. Food orders still is a counter window order system with the menu on a sign display. There is also a window outside for ordering. The fish and chips wrapped in restaurant quality "newspaper" was a real treat and huge portions! Fries had skin on, batter on fish was crisp and the fillet was white, flaky and moist. Tarter sauce and malt vinegar packets on the side. The owner asked how everything was which is a nice touch. There are options for Gluten-free items for Celiac customers which is awesome. We ordered and sat outside and I noticed there was Wi-Fi. We did move inside due to aphids and since the opportunity was there to see it before winter. I would take a ride out there at any season for the fish and chips and highly recommend. I don't think I will ever go back to Joey's again for fish since we discovered this place. Went with my wife. Bought a fish n chips and 2 beers. Had to repeat my order 3 x to the kid on the till. Then he called over another kid to sell me the 2 beer. The 2nd kid asked who the other beer was for. I told him my wife. Then he proceeded to look out the window to get a look at her. Then he said we must drink it where he could see us. Then he told me not to drive! He was a zit faced 19 yr old at most. I'm 53 yrs old!, my wife is a few months older than me!! Lol. Why would you create such awkwardness for a customer? Then they forgot to give me my change. I thought i was in a tv comedy sketch 😆 Tell that kid how to act and the other how to take a simple order. Made a special trip from Regina with my family. My fiancé went up to order with our daughter. After 25 minutes and multiple people getting their order (who ordered AFTER us) our order wasn’t hard it was 4 simple cones. Hard cream Soft, so it’s CLEAR the cones were MADE just not given right away! Which is unfortunate because All four of us had to rush and eventually just throw out the ice cream cone because it was already soft by the time we got it! Annoyed 25$ for soft ice cream that was suppose to be hard. Long wait for no reason don’t know why our order kept being pushed back compared to others!?’ will go elsewhere for now one after that experience…would be nice if they followed...
