I'd heard lots of good things, and who doesn't like tacos? Wanted to check this place out so I headed down with my family for a Taco Tuesday. We got there just before 6pm, so it was fairly busy. We were seated and then proceeded to wait over 10 minutes before being offered drinks or having a food order taken. I expected that it wouldn't be fast, but I thought that someone could at least bring us drinks while we waited. Food and drink orders went in at the same time. Drinks came a few minutes later. Waited quite a while for our food. We all ordered tacos. I would assume that they'd be well equipped to turn out orders of tacos on taco Tuesday. Apparently I was wrong.
We finished our food and after a couple minutes someone came and cleared the food baskets, but no one asked if we wanted anything else - food, drinks, dessert. Nothing. We sat there for over 10 minutes before being acknowledged again. One of my kids wanted another taco. The rest of us decided we were done at this point and didn't order anything else. I expressed my displeasure at the timing of the service to the server who eventually returned to our table. It was about 7pm, so we'd been there for over an hour just to eat a few tacos.
The food wasn't bad, but it wasn't incredible either. The service was lackluster. I'm not sure I...

My family and I recently dined at TacoCat during our Smith's Cove vacation, and I must say, the experience left a lot to be desired. From the very beginning, the visit didn't quite meet our expectations.
I started with a simple request: a small bowl of plain chips with salsa on the side. However, what followed was a truly baffling ordeal. The server took a full hour to bring me the chips, and when they finally arrived, they were shockingly ice cold. To make matters even more perplexing, the explanation given was that the chips needed to be heated up in the oven. It's hard to understand why such a simple request would require such a long wait and an oven treatment.
The menu posed further challenges. With only Mexican drink options available, we found ourselves having to request custom drink concoctions. We eventually settled on "Dirty Shirley's," hoping for a flavorful choice. Sadly, our hopes were dashed as the drinks turned out to be excessively strong and not at all to our liking. Regrettably, through a painful scratchey process, the drinks ended up in the ocean much like the chips I had eaten....
Read moreWe both ordered the nachos. They were a pitiful display. The chips were small and just crumbs, the cheese melted them into a soggy mush. The veggie toppings were peppers, pickled onion and maybe tomatoes?. No black olives, no jalapenos as an option. The margarita (if you can call it that), tasted like pineapple and had a piece of pineapple as a garnish. The salted rim was the spiced salt instead of just plain salt. I actually had to make sure that what I ordered was in fact a margarita and not the matador (which has pineapple juice in it). The only good thing about this place was the view, the cactus on the table and the pot it was in. It actually makes me angry that they consider this good quality food, and it makes me even more angry that we paid for it. Maybe the other food is better, but we won't be in a hurry to go back. I would actually give this place zero stars, but I had to select one to allow me...
