Arrived Sept 13/25 around 6 pm. Busy but not full no line up. As we wait to be seated the hostess starts to serve a take out customer behind us and went to the kitchen 3 times for him not really acknowledging us. We were the only ones waiting a table. After about 5 minutes another server asks if we were served we say No and she seats us. Our server after several minutes comes and asks if we want to order. Not even slightly friendly. We order drinks and ask for Calamari she rudely and matter of fact says Popcorn shrimp. We say CALAMARI she rudely say SO popcorn shrimp.?? We look at each other and say We want calamari. She say we DONT have calamari. We say oh- sorry it’s on your on line menu that’s kind of why we came.” Ya the on line menu needs updating.” She says Spicy prawns ?? we say no spice she gives us a sigh…we say we will look at the menu. She brings our drinks 10 minutes later no water we order and she brings our food fast. It’s 2pc fish and chips. The fries are excellent hot fresh. The coleslaw warm tartar sauce too the fish cold and not fresh out of the frier for how fast it came. She asked on our last bites taste ok? No offer for more drinks. Our plates sat empty on the table for 10 minutes. We were done our drinks when the food arrived but we were not offered another. We had to flag her down for our bill and I say may the have the bill? She says ANOTHER Tinnie? (ya 15 minutes ago!! ) Our bill please. She says our bingo cards are so close we should stay. We are not remotely close…She doesn’t ask if it on one just tosses it on the table walks away. She comes back with the machine and asks you local ? My friend says yes, she’s visiting I’m paying and she doesn’t even talk to me because I think she realized I am not local her service sucked and I was paying not the local. She tells my friend she had the manager remove the calamari off the on line menu. That’s good she says. That should have been done the same time it was taken off the menu? I am a business person I am a big tipper for the right server. I believe in making a servers day with an excellent tip She got $5. I had been to 12 restaurants during my short stay and everywhere was stellar service incredibly great food and they all got 25-30% tip. Going to try the others next time I visit. We all have off days be professional and...

While it no longer takes hours to get from Victoria to Sooke, the 17-mile pub house is still more than worthy of a stopover while traveling along Sooke road. The decor, as you'll see even you enter, is very turn-of-the-century (and I'm meaning the 20th century here) and lighting (also turn if the century in brightness) can be very dim when you enter on a bright summer afternoon. Although the prices are average for the pubs you'll find along your way, the food will have you come back again. Drink selection is okay, but if you're dying for a pint of Guinness, they'll be able to accommodate.

Mondays they have a wing special (although the price had jumped to .45 cents a wing, they're still quite tasty) and weekdays from three to five pm, a bare bones, char-grilled burger can be had for three bucks (best to wash down your beer with).

Overall, if you managed to bypass 4-mile and 6-mile pubs but have a burning desire to stop for a pint and a bite, I recommend you pull over your horse and buggy here.

Also a great place to stop at when traffic...

Came in for a red curry chicken meal. Was quite hungry when we arrived and was excited this. We ended up asking how long it would be after waiting an hour and twenty minutes. The waitress said 10 more min and then 5 min later the bartender came and told us they didn't know. There was a party in there I get it, but 1.5hrs before we were told. Anyways, whichever...starving lol. Food finally comes out and I can't wait to dive in but what is put I. Front of me is NOT a curry dish or at least definitely not red. It was a bland light grayish soupy gravy with burnt coconut rice and overcooked veggies. I had mentioned it was not red curry but a gravy and they assured me it was. I love my Indian food and I'm sorry but no red curry was served. At the end we were given the full bill... which is fine. But 1.5hr wait and terrible food should have had an adjustment given. The waitress was very apologetic throughout and we appreciated that, but unfortunately I have to give a truthful review and I won't be returning. Sub par even for a...

You need to stop here! If you are a tourist and just exploring the beautiful beaches along the islands coast this pub is the place to end your day! Absolutely lovely environment, dog friendly area near the patio, perfect spot amongst the trees and the adjacent highway is not very loud or busy. The drinks are awesome and they serve a great offering of local brews. Since being on the island, we just had to order seafood and we were not disappointed. The salmon burger and fish and chips are crazy good and perfect for those looking for a great island experience. We also got gravy with our fries which was tasty, light, and not too greasy. There's an extra surprise here if you're a Leafs fan 😂

Went there for the chowder, the pub is awesome great interior. Service was very slow, had to go to the bar for menus and drinks. Out side looked awesome with volley ball, rope swing, out side pool table. When we received our chowder it was very flavourful but out batch was missing seafood, had one pice of salmon. Order spicy prawns and red onion rings and there weren't very good. Also the bathrooms are terrible ver crampt in there, two full grown men have a hard time walking in there. Overall I am not impressed with my time there. Won't be back unless I'm already out there fishing on second thought I won't be back if I'm out fishing 🎣🎣
