As part of our stay at Red Bay Lodge, we also dined in during dinner. There were several tables of customers during a Friday evening and I've been told that locals come by just to enjoy a leisurely meal at the restaurant. I can tell why that's the case. Our servers were very friendly and got what we needed in a timely manner. Their Soon To Be Famous Fish & Chips (which should already be famous for the area by now) comes with two pieces of deep fried cod fish and healthy plateful of fries ($18.99). And for that evening that we were there, an extra buck got us some thirst-quenching beer (the real buck-a-beer). The Red Bay Big Bacon Cheeseburger was a little on the dry side (and reason I'm not giving a full 5/5), but came as advertised with a chunky 10 oz burger patty ($23.99). Their wings and fries ($15.00) was also delicious. It looks like from the limited reviews that the restaurant has undergone a big revamp to make changes and things have gotten a lot better. They've done an excellent job with a small menu to make it work! Oh, and a free huge breakfast is an added bonus if you make a reservation for accommodations at Red Bay Lodge so that's an extra reason to come for a stay and to...
Read moreWe made reservations to dine. We arrived and was asked for our drink order. Our drinks were incorrect. The waitress did not use a pen and pad. It took 5 minutes to ask for our order which was fine except half of the menu options were unavailable due to no stock of pork or beef. We needed more time to pick an order which the menu options were slim as it was. The waitress then took 20 minutes to return and fixed the drink order. The fire pit was beside the dining room where a gentleman was stacking news paper where the ash was flying into our drinks/ face. Upon ordering our food the waitress forgot our starters completely. We waited another 30 minutes for our food. It was dry and not tasty. The kitchen gave us the wrong salad and we had to re order it. We eventually got our appetizer but it was over deep fried. The service, and food lack considering the expensive prices of $20 an entree. We will not be returning. Would not recommend. Over priced menu with little selection for subpar food. Waiter A needs to learn to use a pen and pad....
Read moreWe walked here from a cottage rental down the road, on a whim. We were the only customers, went for lunch. Rustic looking inside, but clean. My wife and son ordered fish and chips, my daughter ordered a grilled cheese sandwich, I got wings and fries. Our server (Madeleine?) was friendly, gave us time to look over the menu after we got drinks. The food was delicious, good sized portions. Two pieces of fish per order, very well cooked and quite tasty. Hot wings were very good, as were the fries. Very glad we took a chance on it! Recommend for...
