I’m not even sure where to begin with this special little spot. It is the coziest, friendliest, most delicious country reprieve! Christine and her staff are the definition of excellent service. Their food is bursting with local ingredients and flavourful innovative ideas. And, I’m always entertained as I browse through the local merchant’s housewares, beauty products, groceries, and more. This is one of those places you stop, not because you need anything, but because it makes you feel loved and safe. The benefit is the great food and amazing local and/or authentic product selection. Christine takes so much care to select unique and special products. 10/10 ⭐️

We were visiting from England and stopped by with family members who live in Inverary. The two ladies behind the counter were very friendly and helpful and we enjoyed the goat cheese burger, club sandwich and kids meals we ordered. The food was delicious and we though the portions were generous and prices reasonable, compared to what we would pay back home. The patio area was great for our group, including two young kids. We also enjoyed the selection of locally made sodas and took some amazing Nanaimo bars for the road, for another classic Canadian treat! I'm sure we will be back again someday!

The Cookery is a trusted favourite. On our frequent trips between Seeleys Bay and Sydenham we often stop in for a snack or to pick up a few things. We recently checked out the new patio setup and enjoyed a frequent favourite the Fish Tacos. You can always count on a delicious meal and a warm welcome whenever dropping in and this visit didn’t disappoint. If you’re in the area be sure to drop by!

I have been going to Lavallee’s Cookery for years and have always appreciated the great atmosphere, friendly staff, good prices and food. I have contributed over $200 to the Walter Fund, which subsidizes food for those who find themselves short or unable to pay.

Sadly, today my experience was very different. The prices have been raised significantly, new monitors list the menu and there are more staff. None of these things presented any issue. My negative review reflects my experience with the staff member who served me. I had not seen her previously. She appeared irritated that my card wouldn’t tap and begrudgingly entered the numbers manually: then said the payment would not go through. The screen indicated more than sufficient funds. These glitches happen, although I’m not convinced she entered the numbers correctly as she appeared so irritated when doing so. I then paid with an alternate card.

When I looked up to get my receipt I saw that she had just walked away, so I had to ask a different staff member if I could please have the receipt. None of this may sound earth shattering, but the negative, hostile and dismissive attitude of this staff member really left me feeling differently towards the whole establishment, to the point I feel reluctant to go...

A bit upset as after reading reviews I was quite excited to try this little place.

Firstly we ordered take out as it was on our way home. When we got home we noticed the chips that were to accompany our burger were gone astray! Biting into the lone burger I was met with an undercooked patty. Not a huge deal but a bit dissapointing. Beyond that it was quite delightful

We had also ordered a jumbo hot dog. For $9.95 we expected, well, a jumbo hot dog. However were met with a hot dog smaller than one in our fridge! Amusingly enough that pack was priced at $6.95

To follow that up was a poutine. Boy did it look good. Until we sunk our teeth into fries that must have only made the blanching process. Soggy outside followed by a crunchy inside. Mmm wet, raw potato! That got a quick trip to the bin.

We also got a pizza. The crust was burned and the bottom was raw :( pity as it looked to be a good pizza

Now the customer service was great, very friendly and nice decor. Perhaps it was just a very off day however I was very unimpressed with the quality of food for...

The baked good are good haven't had a bad experience with any of the bakery style products. But giving them about 10 trys for lunch or dinner as there so close to home for me and I have yet to get an enjoyable meal that I didnt throw out most of it out. Usually because the order is just wrong or the basics of takeout aren't followed. Wrong or no toppings on burgers, fries without salt and never salt or ketchup in the bag, burnt fish, raw burger, a side of gravy that's not even big enough to dip more than a 1/4 of a side fries in. Its irratating paying $20 for lunch and then its not enjoyable. Its got potential just gotta fix the little things and treat the outgoing order as if you were going to be the one to eat it. Then I think 90% of the problems would work themselves out. I am rooting for you guys as I'd love to get a close to home...
