Muddy Waters Restaurant — Restaurant in South Frontenac

From time of order to serving took a long time, we had a pretty straight forward order. Ordered BLT w/soup of the day, french onion soup w/small garden salad, and Carbonara pasta. French onion soup came out first on its own, waited longer for the rest of the order and I never got my salad. Ended up getting asked at the end of everyone eating if I got my salad. I ended up canceling the order, as everyone was done eating. The sauce for the pasta was not a carbonara sauce but Alfredo, and had the texture of wallpaper paste, seems the roux was not properly cooked as one could taste the flour. Soup of the day was Broccoli and Cheese, but the cook didn't calculate how salty cheese is so the soup was salty. French Onion soup- broth was tasty enough but the amount of cheese was overwhelming, I ended up with a giant ball of melted mozzarella in the middle that was hard to manage. I ended up eating half of my son's BLT as I was about to leave still hungry. I am not from the area and this was a holiday lunch, disappointed as we drove by here in our travels several times and it always looked pretty busy and the reviews were good. Great food, great service - best place to eat in the area!

I reviewed this place a year ago, and it's still the best place to eat in the area. Mostly, when I'm the area, I'm usually up for a breakfast, or a burger, or other simple affair, and it's never disappointed. Today, though, I wasn't feeling great, and wanted comfort food, so I ordered the lasagna. I didn't expect much, probably something frozen and reheated, but what I got blew away all my expectations. It wasn't what you'd expect from your 100 year old Italian Mema, but it was damn close - home made, covered in broiled camelized cheese, nice sauce, and garlic toast. Totally hit the spot, and blew away all the competition...

My wife and i stopped in for a quick lunch on way home. Was a little busy but nothing that couldn't be handled. We ordered a couple of basic burgers and the wait started. We sat and watched the waitress greet what seemed to be local arrivals. We then watched as all their food came out and nothing for us. When i asked the waitress how it was going she asked with what? in a rather sarcastic tone. My wife explained that we had been there for 40 mins and three other tables that arrived after us already had theirs. She questioned by wife with "What tables". She left and informed us that the cook was starting ours now. Too late we left. Will not return....
